Default Gambling?

How is it legal on cruise ships? I know it's kind of random, I was just curious.

I'm not worried about the age, I was just curious as to why it's legal to gamble on cruise ships, but not in a lot of the U.S.

He asked HOW it was lega, its legal because when ships are so many miles off the coast or in an approved port, they are considered to be in international waters, meaning they are not governed by the gambling laws of the US, at that time, the cruise line can make their own decision about the gambling age but occasionally are restricted in their decisions by the laws of the country that the ship is registered in (I.E Panama)

How come the cruise lines do not follow the U.S. rules for gambling when they are at sea yet they still have a drinking age of 21??? totally NOT FAIR!!!!!!

Because if they let anyone drink, the cruise ship would be absolute chaos. Plus, I don't really think many parents would be happy if their 13,14,16 year old kid could drink.

no one said anything about 13 yr olds drinking but they could make the drinking age like 18 or something like that. and im sure that if they really wanted to, 16 yr olds can find a way to get alcohol on their cruises.

Royal Caribbean used to have a rule in place where with a waiver, any guests 18-20 could have beer or wine but due to increased cases of mishaps onboard their ships, they reinstituted their rules to make the drinking age 21. The ships do not nesecarily HAVE to abide by anyones law except for the country governing them but they can make it higher if they feel it is for due cause. And yes many teens bring alcohol onboard, its easy. I'd like to know why so many teens like to do so? All it does is impair ur ability to think?! It doesnt taste good unless mixed heavily, if u like the taste of alcohol grab a can of vinegar and have a ball

Alcohol does taste gross but it can make things more fun, especially if your partying.

It was VERY VERY easy to get alcohol on cruises. I met a bunch of different random over-aged people in their 20's willing to buy my friends and I alcohol. We weren't even looking for it and people were offering/giving us stuff they finished. No one got drunk on the ship though, off the island was a different story. But I don't drink so I didn't really worry about it.

Yeah it's so easy to get alcohol..since I hung out with alot of older guys who were like 18 -21.. they could get it since they had older friends and if i wanted some they would get it for me!

Really most things age related you can get away with. As long as you are close to 18, you can play the slot machines no problem. And as far as drinking, on those captain meeting things (whatever its called), they will just hand you alcohol.

Yah, but I really don't see the point of getting drunk on a cruise. Just seems like a waste of time with a lack of memories. Than being sick the next day just wastes more time.

ughh that champagne just gave me a headache.

the people/CREW MEMBER that offered us alcohol, never pulled thru with it. so i was happy, cuz i got away with not drinking the whole cruise. cuz they were all trying to get me drunk.

i agreed to half a shot. but they told me my first time drinking, and being soo tiny. i would be wasted just from that so i got so nervous.

back on topic though, my sister gambled on cruises ever since she was like 15. but she looked 18. so it didnt matter.

Im usually lucky, but I dont think Ill ever gamble..
on the crown princess they had security gaurds in the casino, and sometimes if you weren't 18 or older you couldn't walk thru..it was really annoying because if you know how the deck plans are you need to walk thru the casino to get to the atrium..otherwise you have to walk up stairs walk over then go back down! it was so not fair
