Default Salt water pools

Out of curiosity, what is so bad about salt water pools? I saw a lot of people on Kristina's thread about Carnival were complaining about them.

i couldnt care less. a pool is a pool. and on cruises im usually not in the pools....cuz i dont like them. i prefer swimming in the ocean!

maybe cuz salt water belongs in the ocean..not in a pool where there should be chlorinated water (ick)?

I personally don't like salt water pools because it makes you feel sticky after, much like the ocean (which feels really gross). It also burns in your eyes. lol

I guess I am spoiled considering my pool at home is cholorinated, and so are everyone else's pools where I live. Chlorinated pools are just.... better. lol

Thanks for answering my question.

Now it makes sense to me, because I live a mile from the beach in California, and I am use to the salt water, so that's why I have never noticed.

Surprisingly I am used to and perfectly fine with the ocean water (even though it is salty). I don't really know what it is about salt water pools... maybe it is because I'm not really expecting a pool to be salty, it's not quite as refreshing as the actual ocean or a regular chlorinated pool.

Hmm..well I think they are gross!

When the water splashes on you..eww!
Plus it gets my hair messy and it takes my nail polish off easier!

Fresh water pools are just so much more refreshing..haha

I didn't know that the pools on Princess were pretty deep (8 feet) cuz on carnival they are only like 4 feet deep and I jumped in expecting to not get my head below water and i inhaled a bunch of the water and then got hit with a huge wave cuz the pool was rough. it was really funny though.

Haha well i stayed in the shallow end because I didn't want to get my hair wet! But yeah on princess the pools were pretty wavy..at night it was crazzzy! i have a pictures that show how wavy it was..maybe i can find them! but the only other ship that i remember that was really wavy was the big red boat!

It was like a wave pool on my cruisesometimes it would be four feet deep (half full) in the deep end then it would be 8 feet 2 seconds later. And you could swim toward one end of the pool while you were in the middle and not get anywhere at all!

I prefer salt water pools, It feels so much better and natural as opposed to chemicals.

plus it heals the skin/cuts etc.

sure its abit sticky when your dry but thats what showers are for. :-)

i prefer normal chlorine pools, they are just much more refreshing, as everyone else said. all the pools on carnival are salty and when you get out you feel like there is salt on you. whatever, its cool though, kinda different but yeah. im just happy that the hot tubs are freshwater! i spend a lot of time in them, and some of them are considered "whirlpools" (not sure why) but they are luke warm, kinda like a pool, so its more refreshing to sit in there.

I dont swim in the pools on the ship very much, the way i see it, i can swim at home in my backyard but i do go in the hot tubs a good bit. The weird thing is that the pools on the ships salt or fresh water are all chlorinated, its required by DHEC (Department of Health and Environmental Control) but u usually cant tell it. All Chlorine does is kill bacteria which affects the water's taste very little. Personally however i'm not there to taste the water anyway but since i practically live on the beach or on a ship the salt water doesnt really bother me.

anyways lol
you sure have been on tons of cruises..

this is how i see it!

they are all the same.. i prefer the ocean to salt water pools though because of the sand and the waves.. but other than that they are equal!

loves <33.

I loved the pool on the Caribbean Princess when it was wavy cuz it was fresh water and it was really fun and there were a ton of teens in it cuz the movie screen was right above it so we'd watch movies in the pool

On the Crown Princess I didn't really go to the pool with the big screen way to crowded and noisy! The other one was so much more relaxing..but it was wavier!

I don't hate saltwater pools, but on my 1st Carnival cruise I didn't know that the pools weren't freshwater and I ended up with a big mouthful of ocean water.. Anyway, I got spoiled by freshwater pools on Princess and I wish Carnival had them aswell. I like the ocean, and I like swimming pools, but I don't want them combined.
