Default This Is Ridiculous!

For those of you who keep up with the news boards on th Cruisemates main page, you can look for an article that describes Carnival's new ordinance for bringing liquids on the ship. When i originally saw the article, i viewed it as Carnival making a step to prevent alcohol being brought onboard or even worse, liquid bomb-making materials. However, as i read deeper it appears that Carnival's concern was not that of people bringing alochol or controlled substances onboard their vessels but rather nonalcoholic beverages. THATS CRAZY People come on, we're talking about water, juice and sodas here! For those of you who have read this far, what are your oppinions on this matter. Is it a sign of greed and need to sell more onboard product or is it a statement cleverly disguised to signify that perhaps carnival is having problems with people bringing things onboard that shouldnt be there. For those of you teens out there who are alcohol-prone and usually bring it onboard, ur days may be coming to an end soon. Your thoughts please:

well i drink when im onboard
and this rule wont stop me from bringin it or gettin it

teens will just get more creative in bringin it, think about it, you can put alcohol in anything, shampoo bottles, nail polish removal bottles, baby oil bottles, anything! its not that hard, lol

so i dont think this will stop teens from bringin alcohol, we'll just find better ways for hiding it.

I have to ask though, why go through all the trouble to bring alcohol onboard. Especially on carnival, all you have to do is find someone whose 21 and cool and get them to buy it for u.

My problem isn't alcohol becuase i dont really drink too much. But I drink soooo much water. I think that this is rediculous about water because I dont think they seel it onboard. At least I've never seen it sold except getting off to ports. So I hate the new rules

carnival definitely sells alcohol aboard their ships! in the "fun shops" they have a huge section with good deals on alcohol... like i saw this HUGEEEEE bacardi bottle for 40 bucks and it was insanely tall like 3 feet.... hahaha. this is a dumb rule in my opinion too... but its not gonna stop people from bringing alcohol on.... my dad brought some tequila on in the orginal bottle and wrapped it up in a towel.... its not like they look in your suitcase!

Ahh but they do look into ur suitcase. Every piece of luggage is scanned through an X-ray machine. The reason ur dad didnt get busted was because there was only a limited ordinance on the bottles that could be brought onboard and at the time it prolly wasnt worth the paperwork to possibly bust him for nothing. Now, IMO they'll prolly be checking and removine any and all bottles. I know that coming back from St. Thomas a security guard questioned me about my water bottle and made me pour a sample to ensure it was water not vodka. Cruise ship security is deff. wising up to our methods but like the genius above said, all we'll do now is come up with more clever ways to move it. OMFG THIS SOUNDS LIKE DRUG TRADE! JEEZ

ok, number one why i would bring it with me is because i dont like the hassle[sp?] of depending on other people to buy it for me. number 2, i did get people to buy it for me last year, they were guys, because no girls would do it, and the guys expected something in return[if you know what i mean] and when it wasnt given to them they were HUGE jerks.
so this is easier than depending on people and getting raped.

Seriously... girls especially don't think about the reprocussions to their actions. Makes you wonder... You really don't NEED alcohol to have fun, it's easier, safer, better without it. Less hassle with getting alcohol, getting caught with alcohol, and everything that involves alcohol later on then just having fun without the booze.

Here is a reason why I WONT be sailing on CCL for a while.....We always bring tonsss of water onboard with us!! Me and my mom are addicted to it!! There is another thread like this that Greg made discussing this too.
And i agree with what Haley is saying.

i dont think its that i NEED alcohol to have fun, but i do have fun when i drink and i like to drink, i think its ok to get a little wild. Drinking isnt for everyone and i would never say it is, but i like to do it, and its ok if others dont. [/quote]

That might be a little extreme. Getting raped over water??? Mabye i'm not a normal guy but i wouldnt expect anything, especially not that for water?

ok, so we got our carnival cruise papers in the mail today, and i saw nothing about not being able to bring drinks, it said you can bring a SMALL amount, and any large amounts will be taken, but nothing about not bringing any at all. so i dunno, maybe you can, maybe you cant?

lol

well as for the drink parts, my mom will buy my a couple of drinks (alcohol) every now and then, shes only started this past year because im 17. but i really dont need to drink to have fun. the sea air gets me high all on its own. but like stated earlier, people will find ways of sneaking it in. its nothing. i even know people sneaking in blunts in chip bags. lol. if u wanna try this, do it with cheetoes and put it towards the middle of the bag. the blunt blends in with the cheetoes. this is what i was told. and its easy to get them in jamaica and the bahamas and labadee, hispanola. mostly on the beaches cuz the men at the shops who sell things will offer it to u or if u ask they will most likely have it. lol seriously i dont smoke though, drinking is my thing.

haha that amused me. im glad i now know where to stash my blunts next time. haha its something no one on here has ever really discussed. even though we all kno lots of people get it on the island. on my last cruise we went to a bar and the bar attenders pulled out like half a pound of pot. and lots of the kids i was with bought it.

on my FIRST cruise to bermuda. you know how you stay overnight? well all the rest of the girls went to sleep and i was like the only girl, and some guys come up to all of us and were like wanna go off the island?! my moms ONLY rule on cruises is to not go off the ship in the middle of the night or without her permission. so i said no. and the guy i liked stayed on the ship with me. but everyone else got off. the next day. we found out that they were all smoking weed and such. and one guys mom was off the ship too! and she caught him and 1. he wasnt even allowed off 2. she saw him smoking the weed! let me tell you he got it baddd. he was going to be grounded forever starting the day after the cruise. he was only 14 too..
