Default Inspiration review

Has anyone here been on Carnival Inspiration? I'm considering a cruise on it and was curious if it was any good; especially since I haven't cruised any of Carnival's smaller ships in a while.

The Inspiration is identical to all of Carnival's Fantasy class ships and is scheduled to enter dry dock this fall according to the Carnival website. This dry dock will complete the Evolutions of fun refurbishment program on the ship refurbishing all public areas, cabins and decks. Also during dry dock, the Lido deck is scheduled to be redesigned and outfitted with a new pool design and waterpark. Currently Dan, our previous Cruisemates teen host is one of 2 teen directors onboard the M/S Inspiration.

I went last summer.
I met the most amazing people.
But the teen program and directors were annoying, they were kinda mean. but if Dan is one of the directors now, im sure its MUCH better.
We had these 2 old british ladies, and they would have everything planned to a T, like we couldnt just go in the Teen room to just hangout and talk. there was a specific time frame for when you can just go in and hangout. Which to be honest, is what most teens wanna do.
But Dan is younger, and is probably a great teen director, so I would love to go back on the ship with him as a director.

Umm the ship size isnt too small, but this was my first cruise, so If you've cruised on bigger ships it might seen really small. I liked the size though.

oh and hey ryan, do you know who the teen directors are on the fascination? and if they are cool and what not?

Hey guys, The Inspiration is one of the nicest ships in the Fantasy Class, as well as one of the newest. Commissioned in 1996, this ship is only just over 10 years old and has been through extensive refurbishments since then. Given some ships are nearly 17 years (Fantasy). The Inspiration has just had its club refurbed with the official Club O2 gear as I understand and has Club O2 running fully. Dan is one of 2 Club O2 directors onboard which leaves me with no question that the club will deffinetly be a LOAD of fun. I'm not 100% sure about what directors are on the Fascination or Imagination as they tend to move around a good bit, however, I will talk with Andy on sunday and see whose onboard those ships and what her impression of them is...Of course, anyone who knows her would probably agree with me that her views are much different from those of most Club O2 directors which, in a freaky kinda way, makes her club experience unique even if it does require extra willpower.

I went on the Inspiration this past Feb for winter break. My best friend came along so I knew I would have a great time no matter what. Well, thank god she came because we really didn't get lucky with the group of people that was on the ship. We met a couple people and hung out with one or two, most of the kids went off and smoked and we just extremely obnoxious. Idk thats just not me. Maybe I got used to the bigger ships ships that I went on because the teen club was smaller than the newer ships, which makes sense and also there was less people around my age, also makes sense. But the teen clubs in the Glory and Valor we so much nicer and the themes just added to them. The new "Club O2" teen clubs are the same on every ship and takes away something from the program. My friend had sailed on the Fascination a few weeks earlier and showed me pictures before I went on the Inspiration and the clubs were EXACTLY the same. Anyway, I had Brian as a teen director and he was pretty good, it was his last week, and I think Dan was the next to be on the ship. Grr just missed him. In spite of everything, I still had a lot of fun, but I was happy to be going home at the end of the trip instead of being near tears at the end because I want to stay forever lol. I'm not sure if I would have had as much fun if my best friend wasn't with me. Maybe you'll be luckier than me and find better people. Anyways if you are going, you're guaranteed to have a good time, just maybe not the best time. I've had better trips. And my family decided to stick to the bigger ships for now on and trying a different cruise line because all we've went on is carnival. (Caribbean Princess Aug 26 wooot!) Ok I'll finish up, if I'd have to give it a rating I'd say a 6.5/10
(sorry it being so long, I tend to ramble lol)

But keep in mind that u went during one of the slowest seasons. Even my Mariner of the Seas cruise this winter had a sucky group of people. During "high-number" cruises (lots of teens), the smaller clubs tend to be better cuz they get packed and hot adding to the experience. The ones on the Glory and Valor are cool but sometimes theyre too big. During the Spring and Summer, the group of teens seems to be broader and consists of less smokers and binge "drink till u drop" teens.

Okay, from what i take it, it shouldn't be so bad. I've been on a multitude of ships ranging from big to small, but i hadn't done small ones in a while. Hopefully will bring back some experience. Just want to take the opportunity to thank everyone who replied.

my first two cruises were small ships so i didnt know any better.
then i went on a bigger ship twice in a row.
and then when we went down to 42,000 tons for bermuda.
it felt crazy smallllll. and i hated it at first.
but once we went on a bigger ship again i hated that cuz i was so used to not having to walk far to places and seeing my friends everywhere i went without trying to look for them. ohh i just didnt like it at all.
so it was GREAT going on the empress and being on a small ship.

this next cruise is the biggest i've been on 101,000
sure that means more people, more boys, more HOT boys
but not looking forward to the sizeee.
i love small ships.
and it makes me sad cruise lines are getting rid of them.

The problem with small ships is that, with the new markets for cruising, they have trouble keeping up with the popular demands of todays cruising market. Cruising families these days have come to expect a wide variety of food, entertainment and shopping options that smaller ships simply can't accomodate. There will always be lines that will take advantage of marketing small ships that offere a personalized, niche cruising experience, but as for our major lines like CCL, RCI, Princess and the like, lets face it, bigger is better. They view it as being able to cart around more people, increasing revenue sales onboard from bar and casino tabs as well as shopping, all while offering an extremely wide variety of entertainment options. I agree, smaller ships are convenient and leave you with a stronger bond to your new friends than on ships where you have to walk a mile to get from the front to the back. For me, anywhere in the 70K Ton range is ideal, which probably explains my Fantasy obsession, but I have just found that those ships have a tendancy to create an overall more pleasurable experience for me. For someone else who has different desires, ideas and views on cruising, larger ships may suit their needs well, my oppion is just that, mine. Happy Sailin' Yall

I went during my winter break so most of the people were from new york/new jersey/conn because thats a popular week off for schools near me. And there were a lot of teens but 90% of them were the "drink till you drop" kind or completely disappeared after the first day. So that didn't help. Still I tend to prefer the bigger ships and also all the other cruises i went on were in the summer and I met the BEST people ever.

yea maybe it's because i've been cruising since i was really little that i'm not used to all of the new activities cruise ships are bringing on. i just feel like i dont need it. rather than people who started out with cruises that offer all the extra ammentities feel like theyre missing out when they go on a ship without them. like my friend kristen went on explorer of the seas twice and she told me if she went on a ship without that she would be so bored. but i dont need all that stuff. when i went on the empress i didnt even go on the rock climbing wall. when i went on ships with slides, i didnt even go on them. i just wanna meet people and hang out.
