Default Inspiration Dry Dock

Hey guys I found some pictures of the Carnival Inspiration in drydock. They're from last month so i'm sure they have made much more progress, but i thought they were cool to look at.

i think those older carnival ships would look so much more pretty if they could find a way to put the orange life boats down a few decks like they are on all other ships

yeah.... i dont understand how people are supposed to stand out on deck during sail away if the only place to do so is at the aft end of the ship. it looks so closed in. it must feel way crowded when the ship is full

You're very wrong on this one. The ship has an excellent viewing area that sits right above the bridge of the ship and extends out the entire length of the bridge so you can actually "look in" towards the ship. It was amazing for pictures as well as watching sail away without any obstructions whatsoever

Those are the CGI Animations of what the renovations are supposed to look like when theyre done. I was in port with the newly "Revolutionized" Carnival Fascination this weekend and being on a taller ship, I had an excellent view of the Lido/top decks. I'll admit that these ships look 1000X better with a fresh coat of paint. The name change was supposed to rename the ships to look like the bigger ships, all they really did was stamp Carnival in small letters by the original GIANT name.

The lido decks look good with the new design but now it looks cramped with a LOT of pool crap and not as much tanning space as they should have.

I can't speak for the inside, but just the renovations made on the Fantasy and Sensation made it look like a new ship so i have no doubt that the refurbishments will change the perception of the Fantasy class.

The days of tacky colored metal and neon are going away to be replaced with more calm colors and art deco style fixtures onboard their ships. The Fascination did, however get an all new deck sound and light system and WOW, their deck party kicked ours out of the port! I cant wait for the opportunity to sail on one of the renovated ships and may get to in the upcoming month for thanksgiving.

Thanks for the cool pictures!

They don't look like the CGIs to me. the CGIs would like a heck of a lot more digital than some of those.

ryan i agree with mike and think those might be actual pictures... if they were animations, i dont think they would go as far as to creating such a perfect water line on the wooden decks around the slide area.

I went on it... as small as it was, the people onboard really made the cruise. Once you've taken multiple cruises, you learn to appreciate cruises for the people and not so much the ships themselves.

No, i assure you, some of these are animations using the design from a real ship. None of the ships have been completely renovated, even the Fascination has some work ongoing. My mom recieved these same images in the Evolutions of Fun packet CCL sent to agents. The pictures look so real because, theyre publicity shots designed to show the client what the ship will really look like. Its not some fake looking design like the ones that look like the Sims figures. They're very real looking because theyre designed to look that way, but theyre not original shots of a ship. The lighting is too perfect and the scale is always the same if you look at the ship. Even in professional cameras, the lighting would have some imperfections obvious in the camera. Also in the lido shots, notice how the name of the ship is never shown, thats because these are meant to be representative of all of the ships so Travel Agents can use one set of photos for any of the 8 ships.

The lido deck shots may be CGIs. The dining and stateroom shots are definitely not. If you look closely at the stateroom pic in the mirror there is a slight imperfection (had this been CGI, there would be no imperfection). Also, the dining room pic is one of two, the second of which is included in the article. Also legitimately real. These were taken by a carnival staff member apparently, so most if not all are real. In any case, Inspiration is pretty much done with dry dock.

Yeah, I should have specified, that the Lido shots were the ones that i was referring to. The interior shots are 100% real and have been completed on most ships while still in the water. But the Inspiration is the first ship to have the completely revived Lido deck. I can't wait to sail on one nonetheless.
