How To Convince Stingy Parents?

Well plain and simple, my parents don't want to put up $2,000+ for a cruise. I have tried to tell them how it is a good value and there's something for everyone (parents love casino's, 18 year old brother loves poker and sports bars, and I love clubs), but they're not really buying it.

Any ideas cause I really want to go on this cruise (no one in family has ever been)!

i convinced my mom to take my friend and i on a spring break cruise last year by adding up estimations of expenses for a vacation to destin, FL (which was our 2nd choice of trip) and then compared those expenses to the cost of a cruise. adding up airfare, hotel, food, entertainment, etc that you have to pay for in destin, the cruise (even with tips, shore excursions, taxes) was several hundred dollars cheaper per person than the other trip

yea just compare it to another trip somewhere else you really wanna go. and make sure you add absolutely everything in. parking. and all. so no surprise expenses are popped up.

make is more expensive. like my second choice would be atlanta and there i wanna go to the aquarium and the zoo and several braves games. six flags and much more. so make sure you research enough to the place you wanna go to make it more expensive for all of you.

In any case; convince them with the fact that it can be educational; promise to do research on the places you're going.
Offer to pay your ticket.
Add everything up and crosscheck costs (already suggested)

I love living in New Jersey!

And Ainsley you're deff coming to visit me, then I will go visit you! Remember our conversation on the phone..haha grits and then guidos?? OMG! It would be sooo different.

My brother went to Georgia and he loved it, my mom is looking at houses in North Carolina though..if we move there I wouldn't mind to much. I loved South Carolina, and so it shouldn't be to different.

But anyway just do the cost thing, my brother doesn't want to cruise this year so I added up the prices. Because the resorts he wants to stay at have to have waterslides and be very upscale..a cruise is a lot less money. And I'm gonna show my mom that to..

hahah yes devon. but the hotels around here. haha no. you would stay at my house because i dont think i would trust my town. haha if that sounds bad enough and i live too far away from a hotel. anywho. grits and guidos sounds good to me hahha. definitely a culture SHOCKKKKK! haha. and katie you suck because i havent ever been to cali. wanted to and almost did and that was a NOOOO! =[

I'll try adding up expenses, but my parents want to spend like in the $1,000 dollar range.

im spoiled. haha cause not many teens around here go on cruises once a year. so yea. but if your parents dont wanna spend that much. go on a shorter cruise.

Cruises that sail in September are generally cheaper than the rest..but then your parents will have to be OK with you missing some school.
Also, if you are able to book last-minute crusies, do it! You can save hundreds of dollars.
And of course...shorter 3- or 4-day cruises will be a lot cheaper than that 10 day circle the Caribbean cruise =]

yea kris there is a reason those cruises are dirt cheap. its the peak of hurricane season. ppl are stupid if they book then. cause believe me i dont mess with hurricanes they arent fun. and i dont want one screwing up my cruise that i worked so hard to get. try and book end of oct. and the shorter cruises that should convince your parents.

7 days Navigator of the Seas, port of miami, eastern caribbean. Had a hurricane in the vicinity. cruise became a 9 day cruise...

Look at where I live. haha. Everytime there is a hurricane in the gulf that is strong or has the potential to be anything above a category 3 we have to evacuate. We are like 30 minutes from the beach. NOT FUN! haha. But I really dont think I would ever book a cruise in peak hurricane season. Its just stupid.

I suggest looking for deals online... there are plenty of websites that cater to Cruise Deals... try the following sites:

there are tons more... just use google.
