I am sure this question has come up before but here goes nothing... A friend of mine is looking at going on a cruise around the beginning of the year. My friend has a son and a daughter that would be turning 14 and 16 at that time respectively. Do you have any recommendations for a cruise line that would be able to let them enjoy themselves?
Thank you for your input!

For someone whose sailed over 70 times, and is a teen, my recommendation goes to Carnival, but a warning comes with it. Carnival is easy to navigate, easy to enjoy and affordable to price out. However, some of the..."customs" on Carnival's ships are different than other lines. Carnival ships each have their own unique personality and are loads of fun to travel on. However, if you desire the 5 star, classy service from the movies on your first cruise, carnival is not for you. They are the fun ships and are what i'd call "casual" and very laid back. For a pair of teens, however, I think they'll adapt to cruising on CCL easier than on any other line.

You think that because, every Royal Caribbean ship you've ever sailed on has been a Voyager or Freedom class (with the exception of the Enchantment). Many people don't start with large ships and in the market of smaller ships, Carnival has the better market.

ccl got me liking cruises... but now i cant convince my parents to go back on them after our bad experiences with both of the older ships... i want to try them again

You have to understand that your expectations (having been on RCCL's Voyager Class prior to your Fascination cruise) were far too high for the Fascination. You could have at least given it a chance to show what it had. Sure RCCL has an ice-skating rink, rock climbing and what-not, but they also have the $5 rentacops, a 1 am curfew, and not nearly half as much fun in terms of parties. Personally, I like my cruise to be a 24/7 party.
I have been on numerous CCL (8 after this SB) and RCCL (3 after summer before last). I used to be a big RCCL fan; but, RCCL turned me off in a HUGE way with the rentacops. I bought the cruise, so why should someone have the right to tell me when I have to go to bed?

I'd go with carnival. Rccl has many activities on the newer ships like rock climbing ice skating basketball and in-line skating also mini-golf very fun activities but iv been on both Rccl and carnivial and carnival treats you better and Rccl id stricter witht he times you can be out till they have the water slides on there newer ship and also the big tv over the pool like the newer Princess ships it deff between carnival and rccl but when its all done id go with CARNIVAL
Carnival All The Way been on three and would never not reccomend carnival it is the best and the new waterwoeks of the old ships are amazing go on one thewy are amazazing and ull love them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!
personally, i don't really like carnival. royal carribean, like someone said, is how you imagine cruise ships and stuff. but the nicest royal carribean ships are the voyager and freedom class which are HUGE. i do advise that for first time cruisers (as i'm assuming they are) either you try one of the smaller rccl ships. or even another line. because if you start by sailing on the biggest and best ships, your expectations will be higher for the cruises after that and you don't want to end up being dissapointed. hope this helps.

ya, carnivals good!!! have fun on the victory!!

definitely go with carinval!!!! the club 02 program is really popular and carnival is known for being a great first time cruising experience. try a spirit class ship (the pride, spirt, legend or miracle) they tend to be a good size for 7 day cruises... not too big, but definitely big enough to be amazed by cruising for your first time! personally i love the conquest class, but they are bigger than the spirit class and might be somewhat ovewelming... but still an awesome cruise! if you are looking for a shorter cruise, i'd recommend the inspiration or the imagination because they are too older fantasy class ships which have just completed the "evolutions of fun" renovations... making these smaller and older ships up to the standards of the new ships!
