Who goes to the teen meet and mingle on the first night?
My last 2 cruises, I made the conscious decision to avoid the teen meet and mingle on the first night. Don't get me wrong I dont just sit in my room on the first night, I go out and try and meet people, and maybe turn up to the activities, however, the meet and mingle is soooooo awkward, who are you? where are you from? etc I don't see it as the best way to make friends, so now I choose to go. I was just wondering for you experienced cruisers out there, do you still go to the meet and mingle and if so, how do you find it?

I always go to the mix and mingle on the first night, and i completely take it over. I keep it from being awkward by livening up the mood and I challenge you guys to do the same. When I walk into the room, I usually say something as soon as I walk in to break that *cricket chirp* that comes along with a new person coming into the room. As soon as you kind of begin to lighten the mood by being someone do do a decent bit of talking, you'll see other people begin to loosen up as well. Sometimes, just to be a smart... I'll pick someone in the room and go sit right next to them and start talking to them like they've been my friend for years (usually a girl) and if they play along, then I know this is someone I want to be friends with because theyre minds are open to new people, opportunities and new friends. If they're reserved about talking, then i'll close out my convo and go to someone else. Also, i'll give people a laugh or two, at my expense. I'm cool with laughing at myself because i'm a goofy guy and i'm told i'm funny as heck. If someone walks up to the door, looks in, and walks away, i'll make an elaborate deal jumping outta my chair and running after them to find out why they left. If things in the club aren't working, I'll talk to the Teen Director, get the mic and either lead some kind of interactive dance to get everyone up or do a game, and i'm not talking about stupid stuff. All on the first night. The meet and greets are what you make of them. If you allow yourself to be just another part of the group, then it could be boring, but if you take the initiative and are confident in persuing people, their interests and their friendships then the meet and greets can provide excellent opportunities for teens, having a large number of people from your age group in one place at one time.

I always go to the teen thing the first night. I get a group of friends and then throughout the cruise we find more people. Honestly its good for me to go to the teen thing because I'm super shy!

I personally like to go. After so many cruises, the meet and mingle just becomes like the lifeboat drill, another normal thing. It loses its awkward feeling, and besides, it has nothing to do with being anti-social, but it does give you a "feel" for what kind of crowd you're going to have for the next (insert cruise length here) days.

I've actuallly never been to a mingle thing...i have late dinner so it always conflicts and missing a dinner with my family is not an option.
however, i always try to find a group BEFORE dinner/meet and mingle. than they usually go meet more ppl than i meet up with them later.
I usually have late seating as well but i try my hardest to get out early to go meet up with people at the mix and mingle.
Usually its just as djcarolina says it is, awkward and pointless. MAKE IT LIVELY. put yourself out there and liven it up. Personally im probably going to add what djcarolina said to my tips and tricks for cruises.
if you dont "just do it" you'll never know what would have/could have happened if you did. I've missed so many opportunities for hook ups on cruises cause the girls were too shy to show any signs that i put myself out there. Id rather think im gonna look stupid and be shockingly surprised by the result then find out later all the things that girl would have done with me.
there good to go to. however on this past cruise i alredy knew alot of people on the ship haha

i usually go, because i'm not the type of person to just see someone on deck and start chatting with them. i hate the meet n'greets but they are important if you want to actully find friends. and i've found, if you don't go the first night, everybody already has their groups and its harder to find friends. (i've found out the hard way).
