Default Has anyone ever cruised during Christmas?

I might go on Carnival Freedom from Dec. 20-29. I've never been away for christmas so i was wondering....

What do they do on cruises during chrismas? Do they have x-mas trees? Are the cruises all decorated with Christmas stuff? Do they sing christmas songs or do anything special for the holiday?

orrrr is it just like any other cruise week with nothing special or different about it?

I cruised on Navigator of the Seas this past Christmas. The ship was decorated for Christmas, with a huge tree in the middle of the promenade. On Christmas Eve they had Christmas carols on the promenade and even made it look like it was snowing. I'm not sure if Carnival would do something similar.

It was still like any other cruise week, with the holiday stuff thrown in there. & There were still tons of teens, I think they said over 1000 between the ages of 12-17.

Hope this helps!

On HAL's Ryndam they had a door decorating contest.
Some people must have known from previous experience because there were some wild doors.
I think Santa showed up, too.

Oh, forgot to mention Santa was there Christmas morning and had a gift for everyone under 17. What you got depended on your age group. I was in the 12-14 group at the time and got a RCI tote bag type thing.

For the past 4 years we've sailed on the Mariner of the Seas for Christmas and on the Glory once previously. They always have decorations and Santa always makes an appearance. Now, however, things become so politically correct that they have a "Holiday Tree" and its "Winter Celebration" on Christmas Eve. Cruises especially have to be careful nowadays because of the diverse cultures and religions onboard, but things are still festive and fun. I will say, however that the teen groups at christmas have generally been less than my favorite. Idk why.

christmas on the ship, like stated above, is like any other cruise with ramdom christmas decorations and songs playing here and there. although it is christmas and they do have decorations on board, you almost kinda forget that it is christmas. but it really doesnt seem to matter as long as you are having a great time to me.
if ur big on the idea of xmas dinner and sitting under the tree opening presents, snow, holiday ham, then a xmas cruise might make u miss all that.
but for the past 5 years, my christmas present has been a cruise!
