Default Christmas 2009 cruise suggestions?

Hey I'm new. Rents are talking about a cruise for Christmas 09. Hoping to find one with best activities for teens. I'll be turning 16 2 days after Christmas so I want to have the time of my life. Any suggestions?

Hi! I'm Stephanie! Welcome to Cruisemates!
Pretty much any ship you go on around Christmas/ New Years will have a bunch of teens on it, so you don't have to worry about that. It's just up to where you want to go, what kind of itinerary you want.
I prefer Royal Caribbean, but thats the only cruise line i have been on, but i'm sure other people will give you other opinions. I always have a blast when i go on vacation so I'm sure you will too!

Would help if I gave more info:
Would like to ship out of either Tampa or Miami.
Mom says budget is $2100 for the 3 of us. Is that enough?
They have cruised before and so have I but I was only about 3 and don't remember it.

Whenever you consider a cruise for either the Thanksgiving or Christmas holidays, you want to look at the larger ships whenever possible. In my experience of 5 holiday seasons on ships, the smaller ships simply do not posess the teen crowds that the larger ships do during the holidays. One factor, obviously, is the ship's size, however, many ships during this time of the year attract families and by that I mean families that stay bonded together during the cruise vacation. During a christmas holiday on both RCI and Carnival's smaller ships (Sovereign/Fantasy) there was a solid teen group of 6-7 kids....not many, and not a very well balanced group. During the same Christmas and Thanksgiving holidays, we've traveled on RCI's Freedom, Mariner and Voyager of the Seas and Carnival's Glory and the teen groups, while still smaller than spring break and summer cruises, were much better balanced.

For you guys, its going to be hard to find a larger ship with that budget during the holiday season. A 5 night on a medium sized ship is probably going to be your best bet. Heres some options:

Carnival Legend- 7 nights From Tampa 12/20
Est. 650 per person plus taxes/fees (early booking rate)

Carnival Valor- 7 Nights from Miami 12/20
Est. 580 per person plus taxes/fees (early booking rate)

Carnival Destiny- 4 Nights from Miami 12/24
Est. 439 per person plus taxes/fees (early booking rate)

Carnival Liberty- 7 Nights from Miami 12/19
Est. 559 per person plus taxes/fees (early booking rate)

Carnival Glory- 7 Nights from Miami 12/20
Est. 629 per person plus taxes/fees (early booking rate)

Navigator of the Seas- 5 Nights from Miami 12/19 or 4 nights on 12/24
Est. 459 (5 nite) or 649 (4 nite xmas eve) per person plus tax/fees

Norwegian Jewel- 7 Nights from Miami 12/20
Est. 529 per person plus taxes and fees

All prices are based on current listing rates (as if you booked now) and I highly recommend choosing soon. I've seen rates on these very ships spike up to close to 2000 per person for week-of-Christmas cruises in October/November.

Cruises in Italics are on on large ships

Cruises in BOLD are ones I recommend.

Hope this helps.
