yeah well thats RCL. I had to get a form signed just to go ice skating on the last day of the cruise, and they told me I would have to bring my parents downstairs to sign the form in front of them because there is "a good chance I may forge the signature." I was really disgusted but it was worth it in the end, I got to skate during a storm with 30 ft seas

its not as dramatic as you guys are making it... get the form signed once and they will put a certain sticker on your card so that you can do it for the rest of the cruise. even though you may think that the form is stupid, it is royal caribbeans (smart) way of making sure that they arent liable if something were to happen to you. say you were ice skating, fell, and got severely hurt. in all honesty, they most likely had nothing to do with your fall. of course 99% of people will still sue anyways. that form protects them from that type of stuff.

yeah I know all cruise lines make you do it, on NCL you even have to fill in your insurance info!

But just keep in mind, u need to get your parents to the place were the activity is because they have to fill out the form in front of the person there. A bunch of my friends parents were seasick and didn't want to go down there to sign a form so they couldn't skate.

hmm thats the first time i heard about a sticker good for the whole cruise...thats definetly convienent vs having to have my parents do a form everyday...do u have to pay extra or anything?

on past cruises that i've been on they've hole punched your seapass, i don't know if thats what it's like for the flowrider, but you only have to have the waiver filled out once.
it doesn't cost anything either, unless you want a private lesson

I was on Liberty last summer, and I tried flowrider. It was really fun. It's hard at first, but once you do it a couple times, it gets easier.

The rockwall is so fun! I've never tried the Flowrider but the next time I go on a new RCI ship, I totally want to try it.

The rock wall is a lot of fun! I was on it a lot. I guess it was so fun for me because I climb here at home. I guess I also liked it since I came in first for the teen speed competition. haha

I know the freedom class has made the switch but my understanding is that the whole fleet should be using their new system this summer:

Now theres only 1 form that your parents have to sign and its good for whatever items they sign off on. On freedom class ships there are spaces on the single form for flowrider, rock wall and ice skating. Once the form is signed, your given a wristband indicating what your signed off to be able to do and you just wear the wristband for the rest of the cruise. This is easier than the punching or stickering of the cards since if you lost your card you'd have to go back up to the sports center and have them pull all the forms and re-punch/sticker the new card.

To the OP- The Flowrider is actually an amazing piece of machinery and the key to looking good on it is balance. For me, I went during port days and practiced when nobody was around which made the wait short and the time the pro's spend with you longer. You have to balance on the board and keep it even. Once it becomes uneven, water rushes into the extra space between the board and the wave and causes you to flip. My best record is 12 seconds on my own which is longer than you think it is. There was one kid that surfed the thing for like 6 minutes before busting her butt, and she got much applause. Also be sure to check out when the pro's are on the boards cuz they really can do some cool stuff.
