Default casual dressing?

hey everyone. so my whole entire family is going to the Bahamas in August. it's casual dress attire since its NCL. my family all wondered if you can wear shorts at the freestyle dinner? because in the past, it was all formal and so we don't know about casual. thanks for any answers you can give me.

Shorts can be played off as casual, just depends HOW you wear them; for example, I'm not going to be wearing my shorts all gangster down to my knees (no pun intended) and still consider it casual. Wear something decent, and look semi-decent at least. I usually don't wear shorts for causal - jeans and a polo or jeans and a t-shirt usually suffice.

Agreed, shorts are acceptable as long as they fit the kind of setting your in. Like Mike said, guys should invest in belts even if just for the dinner and girls should probably consider a choice of shorts that are longer than average for eating in the regular restaurant. Nothing wrong with short shorts....nothing at all....but theres a time & a place. Once you get on the ship and get a feel for the type of people and the general attitude of the ship making decisions like this will be easier. I always pack prepared for whatever gets thrown my way though.

I've never been on NCL, but on casual nights on both Royal Caribbean & Carnival I've seen a lot of people wearing shorts (nicer shorts, not the cutoff/ripped to shreds). I usually wear shorts for casual nights since it allows me to go straight from dinner to meet up with friends without having to change. Don't stress about it - just wear what you're comfortable in and what you feel is appropriate & have fun!

Um wifi is usually very slow when you are out at sea but when you are in port you can usually pick up a server and it may be a faster. i remember I texted my friend in Cozumel but never got a reply until I got back to Miami

Just remember that when at sea or in non US Ports your phone will be charging you International Roaming rates for conversations, text messages, and data transfer (internet). Using the ships WiFi is somewhat pointless because, as stated, it's rather slow and requires a payment via stateroom account in order to be able to connect to it. Unless your in Puerto Rico or the US Virgin Islands I'd recommend staying off your phone until in home ports or at least make its use minimal as the $$ can really rack up on you.

This is important to know. A couple of cruises ago, my friends didn't know that being at sea would cost more to text (it seemed obvious to me however) and they ended up with huge phone bills afterwards.
