Default tipping
Your article says that Carnival would automatically charge you $9.75 per day per person. This sounds like you are talking about the restaurant services only. Is this correct? If so, then you would still be responsible for tipping your cabin steward, bar attendant, etc. This would be too excessive if that is the case.
