O.K. help me, if it's auto tip at the end of my trip...we are a family of 4(two kids) thats $40 a day, Isn't that good enough of a tip? I don't want to be cheap but I also want to do what is right. This trip is costing us alot of money already!
What ship are you on? If they do the automatic tipping the suggested amount will be put on your sign/sail card and yes, it would be for 4 people, per day. The staff does earn these tips, we've always felt its a small price to pay for the service you will most likely get. If for some reason, there is a problem, just talk to someone and it should and most cases be fixed. If you feel that you did not get the service you deserved, you can always adjust the amount of the automatic tipping.
I always like to know if its the automatic tipping, less cash to have to carry and its very easy with the automatic tipping, you can also just add some cash if you feel the service is worthy of it.
Donna is correct. Staff bend over backwards and certainly deserve tips for everyone in the cabin whether 2 or 92 years old. Some ships recommend half of the daily gratuity for a child. However, I did not see that reference on Carnival. You should budget for tips as well as the cost of your cruise. Average total without bar bill is $140 per couple (rounded) for a 7 night cruise ($10 per day as you said). You will have to go with your conscience, but the staff and the camp counselors really deserve something extra for tending to the kids keeping them safe and content. Skip a ship's tour and you should have enough for that tip!
