Default up front tipping vs. prepaid account

So. Let me get this straight. I'm sailing on RCI and want to tip my old fashioned way -in cash for good service. So must I cancel the auto tips on the very first day of sailing or at the end of the cruise? Is this day by day ? I've always tipped up front for good service. I would hate to think that the stewards would deny me towel animals simply for not participating in a prepaid plan. I've been on too many cruises where the staff was apathetic. Except for the childrens staff. They are usually wonderful.

My understanding is that RCL does not do auto tipping.

I HATE TIPPING PERIOD. WHO THE HELL THOUGHT OF THIS CULTURE. PEOPLE
GET PAID TO DO A SERVCIE, AND TIPPING IS ALWAYS THE DISCRETION OF THE
PAYEE, AND NEVER SHOULD BE ENCOURAGED OR MANDATORY.

Hi Hb Mom,
OUr last cruise a few month ago on Royal Caribbean's Radiance, we tipped the traditional way, there was no pre-paid tipping, so plan on tipping that way. I actually was not crazy about the idea on another cruise, but it was rather nice not having to bring the extra cash and tip, I knew it was already taken care of and I could add to that if I wished, so its not really a bad thing either.

But watchout. I was reading on the Beverage info on the FYI section of RCI's website that the Cocktail Card includes a "15% Service Charge"...that sure does sound like included gratuity. And if you have them open a bottle of wine or champagne that you bring on the boat there is an $8 "corking fee". That also sounds like gratuity to me. I don't think I'll have any quams about asking when I request special services if it includes a service fee.
