When you buy your soda card, they charge you a 15% grat. So there
is no need, as you have already payed it upfront.

I just got off a RCI cruise we bought a coke card for $20.00 for my daughter and we all used it. The adult card was $30.00. We only bought the one and it was unlimited cokes. We would just show them the card and tell them how many cokes we wanted. No questions asked.

Does Carnival have soda cards? If so, how much are they? Did you still tip another 15% for every glass or is that included in the initial cost?

i read somewhere that someone had purchased a soda card and they said the cups weren't to big and that the waiters were annoyed or they weren't very eager to refill your drinks because they weren't being tipped they also said they waited along time for refills . so i'm trying to decide if i should pay the money for the cards which will cost me about 200.00 for 4 of us or should i pay as i go for a 9 day cruise on the voyager being that it's also a juice card too. maybe i misunderstood the poster and i can't find the article to foward. i would really appreciate any help
thank you

I think it depends on the ship. I just returned from the Dawn Princess and purchased a soda card for $22.50 (tip, and Coke sports container included). The soda was only good for fountain sodas, not cans and culd not be used in the dining rooms. We never had any attitude when filling us the sports container. My only drawback is that I am a real Coke person. I found the fountain drinks very weak. I don't think it was a good choice for me and probably won't buy a soda card again in the future.

Well, this is a real shock for me. I thought everything you consumed on the ship (except perhaps alcohol) was included in the price of the cruise. They said that room service was included... Do I have to pay if I order a soda from room service? What about beverages at dinner? And if I want a snack poolside?

Specifically, we're cruising to Alaska on Sun Princess. What's their policy?

I know the gambling and shore excursions are extra, and I imagine the spa services are, too; is there anything else I need to add on to our budget for?

Please help; a shock now is better than a shock while on board (or at checkout time).

Not included:

soda
alcohol
spa services and *some* spa classes such as pilates and spinning classes
speciality desserts and coffees at the little shop where they are offered (not all ships have this, however)

Am I missing anything?

For the most part, most items are included in your cruise price. When you get your pre-cruise documents (a couple of months before you cruise) read through the information carefully, it should answer your questions. I believe the Princess website, as well as their brochure, has information on additional charges.

Dorothy-

We're going to cruise on the Fantasy in 4 days. I bought us the gift soda card which includes 4 drinks each. We're not big soda drinkers. Are there free drinks available, like juice and lemonade, or do we need to purchase the soda card to get any kind of drink?

Thanks,
Yvonne

We just got back from the Inspiration and I bought soda cards for all three kids. They never had a problem getting a soda and there were no complaints that the drinks were weak. For a 7 day cruise it was $23/pp (including the gratuity). If you bought it by the glass it was $1.73 (including the gratuity).

Usually, iced tea, lemonade, and juice are free, along with coffee and tea. We found no need to buy the beverage card b/c those choices were ok with us. We just fetched them ourselves from the buffet area or had room service bring them up to our room.

As Valentina said, all drinks *except* soda, alcohol and speciality coffee is free. I bought the unlimited soda card for my son, who is a BIG soda drinker. I didn't buy one for myself and was quite happy with the lemonade, juice and punch. I bought a soda for myself twice and the prices weren't any worse than anywhere else.

We had soda cards on our Inspiration cruise in March and we were not required to tip at all....they added a fee to the card but I don't know if that was the tip or what.
But our daughter also had a card and used it freely and didn't have to pay anything when she got her sodas at the bars.
