If a cruise is a five day/four night cruise and the last "day" is nothing more than disembarking, is tipping calculated on four or five days? It doesn't seem right to expect tipping for the last day of the cruise.
I calculate it as $ times 4... if the service was very good, I'd add an extra "day" to it or round up to a whole number. For instance, if the steward gets $3.50/day that would be $14 for 4 days or $17.50 for 5. If he/she did lots of extras for us... room service, coffee, ice all the time, was fun/friendly... we'd probably give $20. If I didn't use the steward for any extras, I'd probably give $15.
Edited to include "PER PERSON." I travel with my mom and we each handle our own tips, that's why I was thinking "I" and calculating it for one person.
My room steward will be turning down my bed (and making it up) for 7 nights. He'll be making those lovely towel animals for 7 nights. I'll be eating in the dining room for 7 nights (and many days). I'll be getting a bucket of ice for 7 nights.
