My husband and I are going on the Legend next year and we have prepaid our tips. Has anyone ever done this before on RCCL? If so, do the employees know up front...how does it work?
sunnyam: You have already paid your tips? Typically, you are not charged for your tips until you are on the ship and it is put on your cruise card.

I know you can "pre-pay" your tips ahead of time. I would assume that the upside of that decision is that your cruise is paid for ahead of time. You *won't* have that on your sail and sign at the end of your cruise.
I would think the downside is that if you pre-pay your tips you can't adjust them down, if for some reason you were unhappy with the service and wanted that reflected in your tip.

sunnyam: If you are uncomfortable with that, I would discuss it with your TA. I'm not sure I'd like paying my tips before I'm even on the ship.

Thanks for the info guys. It's not that I don't feel comfortable paying before the cruise because it was great last time on CCL not having to worry about it. We prepaid and then left extra for those we thought deserved more. I just think that paying them ahead of time gives me more spending money on the cruise itself I suppose.
