Is prepaying gratuities suppose to be cheaper?

I just prepaid our gratuities with Royal Caribbean for our 4 night bahamas cruise.
There are 6 of us, 2 adults and 4 kids. We have 1 owner's suite and 1 inside cabin.
The total was $234.00 only. Now if I had went by the cruise tip calculator I should have paid $292.50 for all of us. Why the difference? Should I tip more cash out later?
or just keep what I got?

You can usually figure on $10 per person per day. If you have a very young child, it can be less. I think your figure is high...how did you calculate that?

I went to google, tped in cruise tip calculator.
I guess I am wrong. I calculated for a 5 day cruise, instead of doing it for only a 4 night cruise. Which at 9.75 p.p. would be the $234.00
