2 in 2 rooms vs 4 in 1 room
Last cruise we took we had 4 people in one room. Next cruise, with kids getting older (bigger) we are opting for 2 rooms.
As tipping is per-person based, tipping would remain the same.
The steward will have to clean 2 rooms yet tipping would remain the same. I appreciate it is not twice the work, but almost.
Just an inequity, I guess.
Also, it seems to me that it doesn't take much longer to serve 4 people as it does 2.
Why would the tips be per person rather than 50%of "the rate" for the third and fourth person. The cruise line charges a significantly reduced rate for a third and fourth person per room - shouldn't it be analogous?
Re: 2 in 2 rooms vs 4 in 1 room
I agree about the cabin steward; there is a less work cleaning a quad room versus cleaning 2 double rooms. Many people would disagree, but it is one less bathroom and only one room to vacuum. However, in the case of the wait staff, they are working hard for each passenger.
