Tipping the Butler....how much and for what services?

Tipping the Butler
We are going on our first cruise in March (8 days Mexico on NCL) and have booked a Penthouse Suite overlookingthe bow with a butler(?). Sounds great but can not find any good solid and specific figures for the proper amount to tip the butler. What does he/she do? Please help.
Also would love a couple ideas or thoughts from anyone having previously been on the Norwegian Star or this itinerary.
