Tipping onboard
Question: is the tip automatically added to the price of a cruising for those living in the UK? A freind just returned from cruise on Independence of the Seas, he said ship was 80% UK, 10% indian, 10% american. He told me that when he spoke to the bartenders throuout the ship, they said they were a little upset that they were not receiving any requests. Most of the UK passengers would come to bar and ask for glass of water, which there is no charge. I know americans do not have tips included in their basic charge, just wondering and would like to know.

The tips for bar tenders are included in the price of the drinks. (15%) There tips do not come out of the daily, automatic gratuity.

The tips for cabin stewards, waiters, asst waiters, etc. are added to your onboard account. I imagine the bartender was not happy because the people were not ordering regular bar drinks, thus the bartenders weren't making any money.

Take care,
