Default Is it still correct to

Tip your cabin steward a $20 as soon as you get on the ship?

I have always done this but wondering if it was out of style to do this.

I have never done this and have been doing 1-3 cruises per year since 1982. What cruise line were you on where this was customary? Oh, and when?

Don't know if it ever was customary - But I have been on about half a dozen cruises over the years (mostly carnival), but I haven't been in about two years.

Tipping my room steward on 1st day is just something I have always done (not in lieu of full trip tip just a toke so you are remembered - sort of like tipping at check in Las Vegas) and wondered if anyone else had or still does?

Hmmm...haven't done this with a cabin steward, but a bartender who frequents the same one like schooner, viking crown etc. has always taken GREAT care of me after a $20 tip on my first drink.

From what I've heard, make sure you do the auto-tip on your Seapass, otherwise he/she may have to turn in said $20 to the general tip pool.

I agree I have never done this and surprise I still got good service.

If they give you extra service, tip at the time of the service or at the end of the cruise
