Default Surfing lesson?

Okay, it's not really a cruise question, but some of you must be able to tell me: what is appropriate to tip a surfing instructor? (They do get tips, don't they?)

I will be in Hawaii next week with my 13-year-old grandson, who wants to take a surfing lesson or three. It seems that the more or less standard rate for a 2 hour small group lesson is about $95, but I have no idea how much of that actually goes to the instructor.

I don't think that the swim instructor are receiving tips because when you have joined in a swim course, you have already paid a part of their salary with it, so the tip is unnecessary.
