Default Cruise Gripes Be Gone

Finally--a sub-category in Practical Advice ('Ask the Cruise Experts') has more posts than Cruise Gripes!! I believe Cruise Gripes is a total waste of time/energy. To name just one common complaint that I cannot relate to in the least is regarding ice cream. I have to pay for Haagen-Daz (or whatever ice cream it is) at home so ... It's a franchise organization that rents space from the cruiseline not the cruiseline itself promoting the sale. Once you step on board are you too proud to eat the included generic brand ice cream served at lunch and dinner?

One of my favorite desserts aboard Ocean Princess was building my ice cream sundae at dinner. I didn't pay extra for that, and if I wanted it bad enough and it wasn't included in my cruise package, well, I would have paid the extra price.

I vote to stop the whining and/ or remember the Golden Rule.

Hi Pam,
This is just a forum for all of us to let off some steam, no matter how small the problem may be, but its here just for that reason. From time to time it may help eleviate something that really is bugging someone. Although some posters just post it in a different spot, but thats fine too.

Apparently I should heed my own words in remembering the golden rule, and keep my comments to myself. Thanks for setting me straight on the purpose of this forum. I will stay out of it.

Have a nice evening!

I think that these posts can be a very educational opportunity for the cruis lines.....
I see that they are monitored by cruise line staff.......some comments are just "sour grapes" and others are criticisms that one would not write to the Company with a formal complaint...but nonetheless, constructive criticisms launched in an aim to better cruising for everyone. We all want the best cruise experience...the Lines and the customers.

I think this is a good place for folks to let off steam. We all LOVE cruising and it's at the top of the list of near-perfect vactions. But sometimes the cruise lines do little things that make us cranky, and fellow passengers can be so rude. Maybe they'll read something here that clicks personally, and they'll change their behavior (I know that's unlikely!).

Princess gives a big bang for the buck, they have wonderful ships. It's just that the other cruise lines give free frozen yogurt and I don't think Princess even offers this. But I'd still jump aboard one of their ships in a moment's notice.

Thanks Donna,

I like your way of thinking, just wish everyone would be that way. I try to conduct myself like a gentleman but when someone tries to dictate how you post on here I don't like it. For anyone reading my post if you don't like it fine, leave a comment or just move on it will then go to the bottom of the stack for lack of interest.

My 2 cents worth,

Bill

I like cruise gripes. They are funny and this forum helps to keep the flaming and fighting down in the other forums on this board.

It is a great idea.

Default Cruise Gripes Be Gone

Hey luanne. We have jhad a LOT of rain the past couple of weeks. The last few days have been mostly sunny with a few clouds. Today started with a great sunrise and no clouds....so far. Remember, this is Texas.

Hope you have been doing well and your hubby is still OK.....over there.
I have forgotten when you said that he will be home for good????

My Nephew is back, but there are still two from work, one in Iraq and one in Germany.

We are getting things sorted our for our June cruise to Alaska.

Stay well

It may just be my personal observation, but it seems to me that around 2001 or 2002, many of the cruise lines used by most cruisers somehow "cheapened their product" and imposed new restrictions on guests that were not popular. Thus, there was a big surge in gripes. Today, cruise line offerings and policies seem to be rather static (though at a lower level than a number of years ago). We are all accustomed to the current situation on these lines, and have "griped ourselves out" about it. We all know what to expect now, so if we book knowing these things, no gripes if they come true.

Thanks,
Richard

Most Poster’s use the Gripes' Board for the little things that bug us.

If it's a serious issue then it's usually NOT a gripe, but something that should be brought directly to the attention of Cruise Line management rather than using the 'Boards'.

I find the Gripe Board, fun and educational. My husband and I have learned
a lot about cruising, the various cruise lines, cruise etiquette or lack of, from this board.

No whining...Most poster's on the Gripe Board just vent!

I like hearing the problems people have on cruises so I may avoid them myself. 8)

There are no problems in cruising, its a great vacation. Sorry but your English and your understanding is leading to confusion.

Wasn't there a discussion a while back about eliminating old threads? I have gone through the threads at times and it seems that the same subject comes up often. For example, "formal dinner attire" how many of this same thread pops up. I remember when I joined. As a lurker I researched by going back in threads and if I had a question that wasn't answered I asked on that thread which brought it back to the top. Would it be preferred, say, if I was a newbie, and if I had 20 questions to just start 20 threads. I say going back and looking and posing a question there is better. Having said that I don't think the thread should be brought back if you are making a comment to a poster who made the post 4 years ago.
