Default My Gripe? Complaints, complaints, complaints~

One thing I love about this board is that the people here are much more friendly and fair in their analyses and reviews of their cruises....other boards have so much complaining going on!
Good grief ! I went to one very popular message board and all I read were complaints about many, many ships....
I have cruised before and I have come to believe that people bring more than one kind of "baggage" with them....I have come to believe that there is no such thing as a "Perfect Experience" in anything...Years ago (don't ask) when I got married, I thought the wedding would be perfect, the marriage would be perfect, we'd have perfect children, perfect jobs and a perfect life...(WITH GOBS OF MONEY NATURALLY)....none of those things happened ... In retrospect, the wedding was a sham, the marriage deteriorated within six months and thank God there were NO children... I never became rich OR famous as I had so meticulously planned...I learned that we take more from the world than what we give and we ALL need to learn to overcome that....
I think the book "South!" by F.A. Worsley, should be required reading for every person booking a cruise with a full book report required....That book, which details the experiences of Shackleton and his intrepid and incredible crew to the South Pole around the turn of the century (yes the 20th century, as in circa 1917), on a journey of the human spirit and its capacity to overcome all things, would make people sit up a bit straighter in their deck chairs and whine a little less....I'm leaving on 2/3/01 to enjoy the beauty of the E. Carribean aboard the Norway...I have never sailed NCL before....
To all of you: Have a wonderful cruise !
Remember the words of General Colin Powell: "Never take counsel in your fears or in the naysayers."

Hi Suzanne,
I'm so glad you find these boards at Crusiemates more friendly with less complaining than some others, I know exactly what you mean. Some people are just meant to complain, I don't let the little stuff get to me and don't expect everything to be perfect like you explained so well:-) Life goes on, just deal with it, right.

I'm sure you will have a great time on your next cruise, with that additude, what could possible be that wrong to ruin the "whole" cruise expierence. So, glad you made the effort to post your gripe, hope to hear more from you in the future and do let us know how your next cruise is, OK?

Hi Donna,
Thanks for letting me gripe about gripes! I want everyone to know that I don't mean that I don't want to hear negative things...everyone should hear those...I'm talking about the people that are simply never happy with their cruise, no matter what....
I will be sure and let everyone know how much fun I had on the Norway when I get back....leaving 2/3/01 so if anyone wants to meet up and have some serious fun, drop me an email!

Suzanne,
Look up Denny the Cruise Director and tell him you visit Cruisemates! He is a very nice guy and will help you out in any way he can. Hopefully Patti is still onboard as well and she is a hoot!

To Jim and Donna,
Thank you both so much for responding....I'm sorry if I was wordy but I had to get all those off my chest! It's so frustrating sometimes when you're looking for objective information or constructive negatives to compare cruises and everybody is so DOWN....
You're both great and Jim, I will look for Denny and Patti and tell you said hi.....
Thanks again and I will stay in touch and post my review when I return....you KNOW it's going to be a positive review, right???? I can tell already!

We have been on 13 cruises with 14 & 15 booked. Some cruises have been better than others but none were bad. We count our lucky stars that we can afford this. Nothing negative from this couple. Some people cry with a loaf of bread under their arms.

I have to agree with you - I get tired of people complaining all the time, too. Some people just always see the glass as half empty. Cruising is still the best vacation out there, for fun, convenience and value, and I don't like people to forget that just because they are too busy getting upset.

At least this cruise board has a seperate area for gripes, so that people who want to gripe can do it, and those who don't like to view gripes, can AVOID IT.

I couldn't agree with you more, Suzanne. I'm sure you will have a wonderful time!!! I remember on one excursion in Belize while cruising on the Norwegian Wind, part of the tour was a 3 hour boat ride down a river back to the main dock. One woman with our group *****ed and whined the whole way, almost nonstop. Maybe it wasn't her cup of tea, but she didn't have to ruin it for the rest of the group either. My teenagers, who aren't exactly the easiest to please, were really enjoying this particular excursion and were about ready to volunteer to throw her overboard....hahaha. Now THAT would have been entertaining!!!! (and would have yielded some more gripes and maybe a few cusses too... )

I've have cruised twice with them and 3 and 4 are booked. My wife and I have fun.......we deal with the little things...........and make it a wonderful holiday!!!!!!!
