Last April I was booked on the Century and Celebrity chartered the ship for the week I was to sail. Celebrity did not notify me, I found out from a "Cruisemate" friend about the charter and had to notify my own TA that I had been bumped. This caused numerous difficulties for me which I will not get in to, but I wrote to Celebrity and basically was told that they thought the $150 per person onboard credit that they were giving us was enough. This year, I see everyone receiving 50% off future cruises when they are bumped by Celebrity. I know they are being bumped for a different reason, because there have been problems with the ship, but frankly I feel that Celebrity "elected" to bump me and really didn't make amends, but this year they are being much more generous with compensation. I love the cruise experience on Celebrity, and will be on the Millennium in a few weeks, but I have to admit that I still have a bad taste in my mouth from last year's treatment by the customer service staff. Does anyone understand the difference in compensation? Being synical, I tend to believe it is because the new ships this year are making headlines, while no one cared last year that the Century got chartered. At any rate, I still feel mistreated.
