One cannot book directly through the Princess website. I believe you can if you call them, but you'll ALWAYS get a better deal going thru a travel agent or one of the online agencies like mytravelco.com.
Thulewx is correct. You CAN book directly with any cruiseline but you will always get a slightly to much better deal going through a TA. There are some people that seem to hate Travel Agents and/or cruisers in general and post on the internet that you should go directly to the cruiseline. That is totally false. I urge you to check the prices at the cruiseline sites and use that as a BASE for the brice. When you contact your TA it should be a better price, if it isn't then you need to talk to another TA. Hope that helps.
Yes, you can now book directly with Princess. I called them a few weeks ago just to check on availability, pricing, etc. while I was waiting on my TA to return my call. The Princess agent actually gently nudged me through the whole booking process and I ended up with a booking number. I explained to her that I was just searching for information and intended on using my own TA. She was very polite and said that was no problem, just give my TA the booking number and she could transfer the booking to herself. After speaking to my TA, she indicated that she could do that. Not only that, but my TA saved me a couple of hundred bucks on the deal as well.

I received a promotional offering from Princess that 3 discount TA's via phone and 4 websites couldn't beat so I booked with Princess directly. Based on my other 4 cruises, it sounded like a deal to me.
