Default Sucking Toilets.

I must be jinxed. In all my cruises, I have yet to have a cabin with a toilet in it that doesn't suck! Is that where you are supposed to dispose of barf bags?

Oh, but my kids LOVE those toilets! They laugh every time they flush.

Love to see the expressions on the faces of 1st time cruisers the 1st time they flush one of these!!!!

Too bad it is in poor taste to stand at the door with a camera!

Ship's toilets (more properly, marine heads) are very much under-engineered compared to toilets on land in the US. Our land toilets must be connected to at least a 4" sewer line. On ships, the connecting line is just a bit over 2" There's a reason for this that is above my level of knowlege on the subject. But one must be careful what is flushed in light of those small lines, to avoid a back-up.

If memory serves, Cruisemates Editor Tim Rubacky awarded the "Golden Plunger" award to the Norwegian Wind a year or 2 ago. Have any new challengers popped up recently??? He was right on the money with that award...lol.

I hate those toilets, i always open the door, flush and run...i do the same thing on airplanes, most loud noises (not music, but stuff like fire engines, loud toilets, fireworks) scare me and I always feel like a nut peeing in public on cruises...usally i just make the pilgrimage back to the cabin...

Came home from cruise last Sept. Flushed for the first time at home. That scared ME!
I actually missed those little suckers.
Believe the lines are smaller to save weight. Also the smaller size allows for more suction.Think how much fun it would be right after dinner with even less pull.
