Default Celebrity POP-UPS

I wish the CM staff could somehow get rid of the Celebrity pop-up that comes up every time I leave CruiseMates. Its starting to get irritating (I lurk here at least 4 to 5 times a day).

Off to the side...does'nt bother me. Would I be right in guessing that that helps pay the bills in order to keep this site up?

Hi Rick,
I too sometimes hate those things, but this one is off to the side and always when leaving, and you are right, anything to keep this site going :-)

Sorry Cruise Guy for any inconvience Glad to see you are not just a lurker, but a poster too!

This particular pop-up has made my AOL crash a few times. Anyone else had that problem? No other pop-ups from any other site cause that problem.

Myt wife uses AOl and it hasn't hurt or caused any problems when she checks in. Maybe something in your download. AOL is notorious for wierd stuff going on. As for the pop-up, just go ahead and enter every time, you might get lucky. Think of us poor staff who also have that darn pop-up show up and we can't even enter! <G>

Actually, if that was my biggest complaint about this board or cruising in general, I would'nt have anything to complain about. This board and all the CM staff are great, I even enjoy Rick's comments on this complaint and all others. He's very opinionated and I like that, the man knows what he does and does not like. Keep it comming Rick, I for one (and maybe the only one) do respect your comments.

CM Staff, thanks for explaining the pop-up, makes sence, now back to lurking.

Gary the Cruise Guy.

I love you
You love me
We're a happy family
Etc.....

Rick, thanks for the possible issue, but it is only that pop-up (and as we all know we get hundreds and hundreds of them). My just replace pc with new one about 2 weeks ago so I didn't have to download an upgrade from AOL - I don't know what it is/was, but after I emailed cruisemates webmaster and explained the situation, it has stopped happening. I don't know if he did anything or if I just now click out of it fast enough, but hopefully it is done playing with my pc.

Have a good one. BT\W - I enjoy you posting because it sometimes can get me so riled up I can't see straight and I love a good debate.

Actually, I did not initiate this thread......just answered that it does'nt bother me. I also enjoy your posts Jodi.......I think that is what the gripes board is all about. We can disagree BUT we have to respect eachothers opinions. I look forward to getting you riled more <G>. I am sorry that my posts affect your eye sight ..lol

I actually prefer the pop ups to Rick's posts.. ROFL

Not really true! Now that Rick has learned how to post without me having to delete the posts, he's become an entertaining part of the CruiseMates community.

That's ok Rick about the eyesight - the more I think about it, I believe the not being able to see straight comes from the beer/s I usually drink while sitting here. I also believe it is the cause of my poor spelling and/or grammar.

I too have had the " crash " problem with that darn pop-up. I have A.O.L.
Don't mind the Celebrity advertisement , just getting knocked off everytime makes me want to skip Cruisemates.

Suzie, who leaves in 3 days on the Ocean Princess for 15 days!!!!

Well i was not going to say anything but I just tried to sign off a few minutes ago and that pop up just locked my computer again. 3RD. TIME. I have to re-boot because it will not let me get out or do anything else. I also have aol and a 900 mgz pc so I have iup to date hardware but this thing keeps locking my pc up. I went to the celeb site and this thing will be going on till July 3rd so guess I will have to stay off this site until then. If you click on the properties of the site it gives you an add.(clients.eprize.net) but it will not come up for me.Also they value the trip at 27,000 $ and guess who is responsible for the taxes and under # 13(limitations & liability) it says they are not responsible for anything done to your pc,so do you think they might know that this pop up can play games with your pc. Guess I will be back July 4th.

Rick,

I also use MS Internet Explorer and has happened on that also. Not as much though.

My luck ran out today - locked me up again this morning.

Maybe I don't quite understand how this is happening. The only Celebrity Adver I get is on the side. Don't think that's the pop up everyone is talking about. When I come here I just click on favorite places (I have each board..Celebrity, RCCL, Gripes etc bookmarked separately. So I don't come here thru the home page. Instead I go directly to the board I want. ???? Nothing more irratating, except maybe kids (lol), than having a screen freeze.

When you close the home page, which I always check to see if anything new, you get the pop up on the left hand side. When it gets to a certain point in opening, it crashes my browser. If I am fast enough to close the pop up before it gets to that point then I am ok. I, too, have links directy to the boards, but always want to check home page.

I have tried to enter the contest but I fill in all the info and can't find the place to enter. How does that work. I guess it doesn't fit on my screen. Not sure how to enter so I can't enter the contest.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned pop-up killers. Mine is great. Whenever a pop-up, like Celebrity's, pops up, I here the sound of a gun as the pop-up disappears. Very satisfying. I downloaded mine from the net as freeware. Just search for "pop up killer" in a search engine, download one, and enjoy!
