Default Tops Optional

How can some men run all around the ship with no shirt on displaying folds and folds of fat without embarassment? Where are the visual disturbance police to stop this disgusting lack of social behavior? Then to watch that guy go by and see his back covered in fur!!! My god, please put on a shirt.

Are there actually men out there who think this is cool??

Regards,
Thomas

Of course there are, Thomas. You can identify them by the gold chains tangled in their chest (and back) hair.

And what about the women (notice I didn't say "ladies") who choose to wear bikins that are totally eclipsed by the fat folds.

One thing for sure, I'm never getting near you without a full-length coverup !!!

I think the poster should be forced to post a full-length photo of themselves, before they start making the kind of statements about people being too fat, too hairy, too ugly etc, , so we can see if it's a case of pot calling kettle black. Otherwise, go troll elsewhere...

Thule ...

I think Thomas said "around the ship".

We take what we get around the pool ... and should be prepared for it. Sometimes it is not very pretty, but it's what inside the person that counts.

"Around the ship" is very different.

Thomas is NOT a troll, he is a very valuable -- if sometimes thought-provoking --contributor to these boards.

You kill me............gold chains tangled in their hair???? I'm dying here!

Ah Pamda, how about an apple pie ala-mode and a stroll to the banana split bar? Then cast off the full length cover up and you and Mrs. Thomas can walk through the casino dripping chocolate down your elbows. If the two-tons of fun shirtless boys give you a dirty look just point to stomach-a-massive and explode with a nose spurting roar.

Regards,
Thomas

Your perception is sharp. Some will read a post and not READ the post.

I am no body builder hunk with a washboard stomach myself, but I do cover my emerging torso whenever I'm not in the water. My "going away side" is my best asset anyway.

Thomas

There is a limit to what we can do with the bodies our gene pool gave us.

Some are hairy, some are not.

Some tan easily, some burn at the first look at the sun.

Some people can't help weight problems.

I think it's all about politeness in a larger society. Me. I'd just as soon slap those young lovlies showing off their bods when I have to look at my aging one in my cabin mirror.

But I do cover it up when I am "around the ship."

And I will admit to look at the younger guys with the six-pack abs as Queeg's six-pack abs mean something else.

I REPEAT, it is about politness.

My opinion is that around the pool it's a free-for-all and if you don't like what you see, look the other way. Other places, it's in poor taste.

Actually I am at a loss as to what the poster is trying to accomplish if not trolling which is NOT allowed just as personal attackes are not allowed here but I am willing to give it the benifit of the doubt right now. People are differant, it is a fact of life and what you or I or someone else may not think beautiful may be to someone else. So long as one is considerate of others in thier dress and behaviour we have no room for complaint. There are places where going shirtless is approprate, and others where it is not and so long as those rules of decency are followed.....get over it.

Jim ...

I think what Thomas was trying to address is those folks who don't follow common rules of decency "around the ship."

I have walked away from a buffet line when a man of the sort Thomas described shows up in the line next to me. Complete with icky, hairy armpits. Wearing nothing more than swim trunks and a singlet.

Sure, it's his cruise and his right if he's following the putative rules, but it kind of ruins MY appetite.

Putting on a shirt when out and about is no big deal.

I think the issue is that simple. It's about respect for others' sensibilities.

I thought most cruise lines requested passengers to wear a cover-up when going back and forth to the pool, which I would think would include the times they're in the inside buffet line.

But, then requesting and people doing are two different things all together.

Exactly! Going shirtless in the casino or atrium bar or buffet line is not appropriate, agreed?

Thomas,
Agreed, however you did not say this in your first post. That is not a 'little' detail and needed to be included to understand what you were talking about. Cover-ups ARE highly suggested and often required in buffet lines and areas of the ship that are not designed for swimwear apparel. This is one of the complaints that I gave to a hotel manager on a RCI ship, the fact that there were no places to get cold drinks unless you went to the trouble of getting dressed or at least putting on a cover-up. By the end of the cruise I noted that there was construction going on in an area accessable directly by the pool where a drink machine was being installed. Sometimes a reasonable and specific suggestion is very much appreciated by the ships staff and acted upon if they can.

I run around the ship topless all the time. Then I run around it several more times, all on the jogging track. Despite my magnificent body, I would never even consider going topless anywhere else except for the pool. I also wear a cap in the sun, but I take it off indoors, since I don't think is is proper for men, at least ,for this man, to wear a hat or cap inside.
