Last fall in port at Cozumel my friends and I went shopping AFTER the Fiesta Party Boat cruise(not a great idea). After looking for the perfect T-shirt we returned to the ship with our loot. My friends husband had bought his wife what he thought was the perfect T-shirt , it said in big bold letters I'M SHY-but his beer goggles failed to notice the small print below that said "but I have a big dick! "We all got a laugh out of it, and had a shirt made for him that simply says' I'm Big Dick!
JUST SAY NO TO DRUNK SHOPPING!
On our first cruise, my husband was so excited. He had his binoculars around his neck and we were up on deck as they cast off the lines. It was a 3-night cruise on Carnival Paradise, it was the Paradise's soft "grand opening". Anyway, my husband was scanning the parking lot. What is it with guys, they always have to try and find their car. He found it alright, with the trunk and the driver's side door STILL OPEN. He had been so excited and in such a hurry, he had grabbed our bags and off we went, leaving these open. All I could think about was a dead battery when we returned.
He ran down to the purser's desk and explained the situation and they told him to run "really really fast" because the ship was getting ready to leave. He hasn't ran that far or that fast in years, and probably never will again. But he made it and our first cruise was wonderful.
My fiance and I wanted to go see a show in the lounge one night while cruising Disney Magic. When we got there, it was still the previous show, but we did not realize this until we had already walked in and walked over to sit down. The guy on stage was a commedian, and he stopped everything to rip on the two people who had "interrupted him". He was joking, but everyone was looking at us and laughing. We didn't want to leave and then come back in 5 minutes, so we decided just to wait until he was done and catch the show we were waiting for. He made references to us for the rest of the show, and everyone kept laughing, . Luckily it was only a few minutes until he was done. Quite embarassing, .
I suppose, in hindsight, the funniest thing that happened to me on a cruise occurred in the casino. I was at the blackjack table and the lady sitting next to me, who obviously had too much to drink, asked me if I would like to accompany her to her cabin. As Murphy's law would have it, my wife was standing a few feet from me and overheard the comment. Well, I suppose I was in a bit of a state of shock and experienced a mental blackout and didn't decline right away and when I did, evidently it wasn't very forceful. Anyway, I spent the remainder of the cruise trying to explain why it took me over 30 seconds to decline the offer. I couldn't say that the male mind is not programed to say no to that kind of proposal quickly. The only explanation I could come up with was that I didn't understand what she said right away. Of course, my wife didn't believe that, but by the end of the cruise everything was okay anyway.
While going to dinner on one of the formal nights on the Serenade I was up by the pool and wanted to take the elevator down to the dining room. When I went to get off the elevator, my stiletto heel got stuck in between where the elevator ended and the floor met! Luckily I didn't fall, but the other girls in the elevator and I had a good laugh at the expense women pay for cool shoes!
One of the highlights for me as a teenager on any cruise is the amount of ice cream cones you can shove down your throat by the end of the trip. I had just boarded my ship and after a quick stop at the stateroom, went sprinting up to the lido deck to get some ice cream. I took the forward elevator up and headed toward the back of the ship where the ice cream machines were. Unfortunately, I neglected to remember the slightly raised doorframes on cruise ships. As I ran out the door, I tripped and fell flat onto the deck. Luckily, they only person around at the time was a bar waitress traversing the decks who gave me a "that's what you get for running" look. Embarassed, I got up, looked around, and slowly walked to the back of the ship. Funny now, but quite embarassing at the time.
