I am flying on three different air lines in order to join my cruise.
Airline 1 is small commuter plane which discourages luggage , even carry ons have to be given to staff to store.
Airline 2 allows 2 bags each 70 lbs , an overhead bin type carry on and a "personal" bag (max size briefcase or diaper bag) to go under the seat.
Airline 3 reduces the bag size and weight to 60 lbs and 45lbs, and 1 carry on (less than 40 lbs)
Since I am packing for 20 day cruise you can guess that Airline 2 gets my vote, my question is will air lines 1 and 3 give me a hard time re the size, weight and number of bags.
The airlines really do seem to be enforcing their baggage weight limits-- I flew home yesterday post-cruise with my family (5 of us)--two of our six bags exceeded the 50 lb limit (one was 58 lbs, the other 52 lbs).
The airline made us "redistribute" our packed items RIGHT THERE on the floor of the check-in desk!!! How embarassing to be "redistributing" dirty clothes & underwear right there in front of a long line of waiting passengers! But they were adamant about the weight limits.
I am surprised by how varied the limits are on your three airlines! I hope you find a solution to the dilemma presented. Soundly like you might need to pack light & rely on the ship's laundry services to help you out! Good luck & have a great time.
