To all the Fatsos--I won't look at you in disgust if you'll stop whining about the women in the skimpy clothes who take care of themselves.

Give me a break,
I am just wondering where your hostility came from? Did a chubby girl break your heart or say something mean to you? There just seems to be a lot of anger in your post. I mean no one said anything mean about thin people wearing skimpy clothes...unless I missed something? But just in case my presumptions are correct...I will apologize on behalf of the other chubby girl that hurt you!

*Hugs*

The good thing about being fat is that you float better if you fall overboard. My mother-in -law is so fat she can float in the pool without having to move or tread water. She just bobs around in an upright position head and shoulders out of the water. It is quite funny, really.

Was just looking through the posts here and found this thread ... thought it interesting that it has been going for so long ... some of the posts have been thoughtful, kind and compassionate ... some have been funny ... and still others have been down right ludicrious ...

While there are those I am sure that choose whether they are thin or fat ... there are those that do not ... just like those that can not change how tall or short they may be ...

If everyone, fat, thin, tall, short or "normal size" would wear that which is appropriate then all should be happy ...

As for that buffet line .. this is a cruise ... whether first or last in line there will always be food available ...

So ... do not worry about what others will think of you ... fat, thin, short, tall, lots of hair, no hair ... what ever ... have fun ... and remember ... if someone has a problem with how you look ... it is their problem not yours ...

Hey! Me too. I will be 40 in April but can't cruise until May. Oh, and I did not choose to be short 5'8", I just stopped growing.

lol ... thanks ...

of course I am "FAT" ... but like I say ... if someone has a problem with it ... it is their problem ... they do not have to look at me ... there are normally 2 sides to a buffet line so they can rest assured that they will get enough to eat ... and well ... hey if I want to go swimming I will ...

There is an old saying that I use ...

I am not just fat ... I am heat in the winter and shade in the summer ...

The thing is that a cruise/vacation is to have fun ... not to worry about what others will be thinking ... I gave up worrying ... besides ... think about it ... can you not find fault in everyone ... be it in looks or personality ... so hey life is just way to short to worry about the little stuff ...

ohh and if there is someone looking to avoid me because I am fat ... and I am supersized ... then just so you know ... I will be on the Fantasy October 17th ...

lol

I'm not a small person myself, and I've had plenty of bad experiences, but plenty of good....I held leadership positions in the high school band, ran wih the local rescue squad, had a good job since before my 10th grade year, and here I am going through the school motions to apply with Carnival. I'm not belitting your post, however I think that the "large" population of America is being discriminated against less and less as time goes on

Best Regards and hoping to be Your Cruise Director someday :-)

Why is it that you never see fat zebras, tigers, or any wild animals? Cats and dogs have been domesticated and have become soft like their owners. Ooh, it's not my fault that I'm so big, I have a slow motabilisim, it runs in my family, I'm big boned. Sure, some people are gifted and never have to work to keep in shape, but don"t tell me to look the other way for your weakness. The only person to blame is you.

I am not overweight, but my husband is. If you don't like looking at obese people, invest in an eye mask.

" I'm big boned "

I love that one.

I have been in the medical field for 16 years, never seen a fat skeleton !

And almost never see obese people die of "old age".

However, everyone deserves respect.

"Now they seat a couple next to you who are dressed like they just came back from a hayride. Does it spoil the mood in any way? Does it make you feel it wasn't worth the effort of dressing up? If you've never been to a formal restaurant or it just isn't your thing, you'll probably say you could care less."

I have been to many 'formal' restaurants, because that *is* "my thing." I am virtually always overdressed on a cruise because that is also one of "my things." I would hate for anyone in the dining room or on the deck to feel uncomfortable as a result of my being overdressed. So, I can't imagine feeling uncomfortable about the dress of other vacationers at my table or elsewhere.

Other people's behavior reflects *their* choices, not mine. If their behavior violates the proprietor's expectations, let the proprietor take the heat, if he cares to. I'm not getting worked up over it. I'm having a pleasant meal...no matter what.

Kat, Loved your responses. And Dave, thanks for the great picture. I never thought of that. I think it should work. Would keep me cool at the same time too. Hope dh also likes the look. Now I am trying to design outfits that will hold drinks. I think this will be the next "in" look. People, if you are on the same cruise as I am and do not want to look at me, then I am sure you can find many other people to look at. I am sure there is plenty out there that I try to ignore.

Just a quick question....
Who is the bad person in this situation... The fat person having a good time wearing clothes that are too tight and having fun.... Or the skinny person who is complaining about it. Too each his own people. Look at it this way, if that moment was the last moment in time, standing at the "pearly gates" I hear judge not lest yea be judged. Grow up, who cares what someone else is doing eating or wearing, your on vacation to have fun...

What's the payoff for the "in shape" person for all the sacrifice and sweat and pain working out? They may live longer, but that remains to be seen and to say I told ya so is a long way off. So you gotta make fun of and pick on the folks who don't right? I may just put my 6'4" 285 pound butt in a pair of those bicycle shorts and a belly shirt and put an end to this fad once and for all!

Whether or not it is a person's own fault for being overweight, why should their problems concern you? Maybe some people don't exercise, eat right, etc. etc., but that is their own problem. Everyone has personal problems. Everyone has "weaknesses". So what?

How about health ins. costs, tighter space for the rest of us on planes and elevators, buffets, cost of a suit has to be averaged out for cloth. The list goes on...

I'm with you Mr. Cheesewiz. Humans were not meant to be so fat. Everywhere you go, you see obese people. I was driving to work this morning feeling good after my morning workout and run. This woman pulled up at the light next to me, her belly touching the steering wheel and stuffing donuts in her face. For the most part, it is lifestyle. Someone else said it here. "Eat less and move around more".
