Default Carnival's ship on a stick

OHHHHHHHHHH AAAAHHHHHHHH, Ok I am going to try to get one of those darn things again. Just don't understand though how the same people are always getting there names picked every single time. on the Inspiration, there was this one guy and I seen his name get picked out of a bucket with at least a hundred names 3 times. Granted he was a funny entertaining guy when he got on stage but come one how can the same person name get pick for The Newlywed game, the Jeopardy game and the mexican hat thing they did and win all three. Seemed rigged to me. Also on the Holiday seen the same people getting picked and winning. I think I am going to try to make nice with the entertainment personal immediatly. (just kidding). Anyway, just a few more days left and hopefully I can report back with a Ship on a Stick sitting next to my computer. Wish me luck. (and if not I'll just have to book another cruise)

Do trivia...it's listed as an activity in the Carnival Capers. They ususally have 1-3 rounds a day. Get a team together and play. It's usually the same groups of people throughout the cruise, so you get to know people that way too... My family won like 10 ship on sticks from a weeklong cruise that way. Hehe.

I won a ship on a stick in the trivia. We stopped in Belize and my wife and I did not want to go ashore.

How many others on this board have a ship on a stick?

Hubby won on our last cruise (Feb 2003) on the Triumph.

Was on Who wants to be a millionaire and me and him were the only 2 standing!
The cruise director looked at us and said "are you two together?" and we were like "Yeah!" and he wanted to know if we had the same answers but we didn't and I lost on the next question and hubby got a 24K gold plastic Carnival trophy, a medal, and a bottle of champagne.

Was alot of fun!

I won the wonderful 24K plastic trophy for winning the putting contest. It was great, beat the pants off of one of my fellow crusiers who has a 4 handicap, I guess my short game was on that day!!

Yeah, I've got one. My dad and I won music trivia on the Paradise. I was actually going to gripe about it, since it would be nice to have drink coupon, deck of cards, foam cup or the like instead of (or in addition to) the trophy. Oh, well.

Having been on 27 Carnival cruises we have an assortment of "ships on a stick" must say though that it beats the "Mardi Gras Yuk" wine that was given back in the 70's.

It's a beautiful "24karat gold PLASTIC" replica of the ship you're on, mounted on a trophy, that you win for various onboard games and activities. I won one recently after my 3rd attempt at Trivia, and it proudly sits above my computer in my "cruise room" at home!

It's a plastic trophy they give you if you win a game or something on Carnival. My hubby got one for the who wants to be a millionaire game on the Triumph in Feb.

I have a pic here: http://home.comcast.net/~powerdave/cruise.htm

My hubby won a medal for the hairy chest contest! It wasn't the ship on a stick, but it was a blast! Plus the contest made the ships video, so we have a permanent record of his accomplishment! SOoo, it just goes to show, you don't even have to have a talent, just genetics to win a prize. lol

Ps : Glory cruisers be advised, that he is growing more hair for the next cruise!!

If there is an opportunity for the social director to "pick" someone, guess who they are gonna pick? Someone who wants to be up on stage and might liven up the game.

My son finally got a ship on a stick NOT because he won a game, but for being onstage the most times (usually helping with Bingo, being the jockey for horse racing and the judge for Shipboard Survivor)! The social director saw how much he wanted one and told him he deserved it. I had read how stupid some of the more experienced cruisers think the ships on a stick are, but being new cruisers we thought they were fun!

Ours is sitting, next to the bottle of champagne I won in the "spoon" game as a sort of centerpiece on our dining room table. Just a little nightly reminder of our cruise!

dorothy
p.s. my son STILL gets a kick out of describing it the way our social director did: "A 24 carat solid gold piece of ship on a stick" He got a gasp from his hard of hearing grandmother when he told her that!! (SHIP grandmother, SHIP on a stick....)

D@mn Dorothy, I've been trying for years for one of those stupid things and never have gotten close. Now I find out your son got one on his first cruise!!!! Geez............

Last summer I thought I was finally going to win one. Our family was playing trivia and at about question number 23 out of 30 I was sure we had all the correct answers. Then, for some unknown reason, some reason I just could not understand, a reason so unreasonable to me, .............the family said they wanted to go do something else happening on the ship and left my dumb@ss sitting there by myself. Pleading and begging had no effect on them. I didn't get another answer correct.

I had that plastic ship on a stick in my grimy little hands.......... I could feel it, I could taste it, I had the sparkle in my eye! But they LET ME DOWN!!!!

Regards,
Thomas

Oh Thomas!!! How horrible! How DARE they abandon you when victory was so close at hand? Did they realize the long term psychological damage that would be done if you DIDN'T win? Shame on them! And Mrs. Thomas seemed like SUCH a nice lady

You'll get one...except that there is always some "need-to-get-a-life-and-watch-less-TV" type out there who ALWAYS seems to know 30 of the 30 questions at trivia. There was a "Friends" (from the TV show) trivia. I got 2 questions right, but there were folks who had 15 right by the time I left! Geez....

Want me to send you a photo of Hadley's ship?

dorothy
