Default Poll question..which is safer?

Ok going on cruise March 2004, which is safer to bring....a gas grill or charcoal and lighter fluid.
Another problem is we booked a cabin with out a balcony..should we just set up the grill in the shower, or try to find someone who will share their balcony?

Mary Margaret

Thanks for your input.

You'd better be sure your cabin has a large shower, preferably with a vent. Oh I guess you could just leave the cabin door open to rid your room of smoke. You might want to take your bowling ball too. Those long hallways make great bowling lanes when you're on a group bowling cruise. A strike at a 700 foot distance is quite a feat.

Happy grilling, or is that roasting???

lol tee hee ;-)

Oh yes, and don't forget that you'll need a little extra line for your fishing rod.. the ship is quite high, and you'll need something to cook on that grill

Mary,
You can come on over and use our balcony if you want. If youŽre takinŽ your grill along, IŽll leave mine at home and bring our cooler instead. Just let me know what you want to drink so that I can stock up.

While you are bringing your grill, don't forget the satellite dish.

Hi

I really dont think its a good idea to bring any type of grill. The smoke can be very toxic.
And a fire could spread. There is plenty of food on the ship and by the pool there is a barbeque. Please re consider. I really dont think its safe

I prefer an open fire to any type of enclosed grill. Just ask your steward to push the bunks further apart so there is enough floor space for a few logs. If you're wondering where to find firewood on an ocean liner, those decks are well-seasoned and there's nothing like the added flavor of teak for home barbecue!

you could always bring along one of them George Foreman Grills if you are concerned with open flames

OMG I'm laughing so hard.....can you imagine someone actually toting along their own hibachi !!!!

Might as well bring a fishing poll, maybe you can troll on "at sea" days

Any comments to the scuttlebutt about the QE 2 putting fighting chairs for deep sea fishing on the fantail for their transatlantic crossings ? I understand that there is a waiting list already and ONLY for the most expensive class of passengers. I don't think this is fair !!! I plan to boycott the QE 2 untill they open this to ALL pax.... ;-))

Please, Please tell me which ship you are going to be on in March,2004 when you bring your grill.. I am going on a cruise in March, and I want to be as FAR AWAY as possible from this ship.....lol

I certainly hope that was not a serious question....Cruise lines do not even want candles or irons in staterooms as they pose such a fire hazard when there are so many people onboard. And I am sure you don't want to be abandoning ship at sea...........................

Are you really serious?

Gosh, I'm going in March on our cruise. What ship and what exact date. I'd hate to have the ship catch on fire! YIKES....

I'm wondering if they would even allow that type of stuff on board due to fire regulations.

You'll only need one match or firelighter if you light the corner of your mattress. The mattress should smolder for 7 days and whenever you're ready to grill, just pull a piece of it off and blow on it. Oh, by the way, avoid breathing the smoke, if at all possible. It's toxic!

When you're done cooking your dinner take the embers and place them in the shower, let the water drip down the wall into the embers and PRESTO............steam room.

Bring a long piece of sturdy twine and tie it to the grill and rack. When you're finished cooking hang the grill over the side of the railing and dip it into the water, PRESTO.... clean grill.

Regards,
Thomas

fl98lady: Salem5050 is a regular on the boards and she posted this as a joke. She realized that she accidently posted this in the "Cruise Gripes" section and she reposted it in the "Chit Chat" section. I think that is why you haven't seen her here again.
