Just returned from sailing on the Conquest, I couldn't believe how Awful the brightly colored plastic cups were in the self serve restaurant. they made anything you drank from them taste awful. I can understand why they do it ....better for the enviroment, and so that there is no breakage around the pool and barefoot people. I thought it was terriable. Do all of there cruise ships have this feature??? Janet
....Soon we'll be making another run.....
The Pride had those cups when we sailed on her but I didn't notice any taste to the cups. The other ships we have been on had clear/yellow plastic glasses. Sounds like maybe they weren't rinsed well enough in the wash process, I have experience that at my inlaws (they don't rinse well after washing dishes) so all you taste is dish soap not the drink.
If you consider the thousands of drinks that people handle in a week and the number of spills, it's not hard to figure out why cruise lines went to plastic. It's much safer, especially for kids, regarding cuts from broken glass all over the ship.
We just got off the Pride last week. i thought the plastic cups were great. I am not a fan of plastic to drink from. But I thought they were fine. I couldnt help but think wow. no breakage and someone stepping on glass... The Grandmother in me i guess... I know I am on a gripes board. But we had no gripes with the cruise. Great food and excellent service. Already planning on our next carnival cruise. Happy cruising..
