Default some people are never happy

We're counting the days down until we leave on the Carnival Victory. We have cruised in the past and found it to be everything we had hoped for. However, we were seated with many people who seemed to look for something to complain about. Anything from too many kids to the music is too loud to the sun is too hot. One day a couple we were seated with were complaining that the room steward didn't fold their clothes properly. Maybe it's just me, but do some people expect to be treated like royalty? If you spend your time on vacation waiting for something to whine about how are you going to relax and enjoy yourselves? That being said, what was the most petty complaint you have heard on a cruise? Lines too long, food not hot enough, water too blue........

Crossing the Equator in April someone said it was "too hot".

Gave them a blank stare and mentioned they might enjoy an Alaska cruise.

The people on St. Lucia were "not American enough," according to a couple on board with us. Um, right, they weren't.

Riding up an elevator after being ashore in Dominica, the two blue haired ladies were complaining to one another. Their "hair was wet and needed to be redone now".
"Someone should have told them that it might rain IN THE RAINFOREST". DUH!!!!

I've never understood those who get on a ship and complain that they feel movement.

I heard the complaint about the ship's movement on my cruise. I couldn't imagine why they felt movement.

My complaint (and it's a good one!) The cruise wasn't long enough!

Hey Mikey Sr, how about this? Why is the line so long? Hmmm, is it possible that 2,000 people want to get off of the ship?

Two things that happened to me on the Carnival Victory last week.

1) A woman is reading a book, very close near the pool.
A few kids are playing inside of the pool.
Of course her book got wet as the kids were playing with the water.
Then she yelled at them to stop doing that.

2) I went to the bathroom because I really needed to go.
I couldn't get into the men's bathroom because there was a sign on it, they were cleaning the bathroom.
As I really needed to go I didn't want to walk all over the ship to find another bathroom, so I decided to go to the ladies' then.
Of course you'll see some strange faces then, but I explained why I was there to the women I saw when I got in.
One lady probably didn't agree with me of going inside the ladies' and stayed outside.
While I was inside my mom also wanted to go for a pee, but the lady I was talking about told her not to go inside as there was a man inside the ladies bathroom taking a peek.
Because of that my mom went back to our spot and when I got back I told my family about the offended lady.
My mom started laughing and then told me what the lady told to her and then went for a pee.
This was a really funny moment for both of us.

Just don't sit it out inthe women's room...

Okay sorry.....As we were waiting to leave the ship, we sat with 2 single women. One of them was complaining that they should have been allowed to stay in their room until the last minute and disembark from there. I explained that they needed to get in and clean our rooms ASAP. Kind of made a joke saying "Remember how anxious you were to get on the ship last Sunday?"

She thought I was nuts and continued to complain about the lines, the wait, etc.

Geez....I must have *missed* that part about how wonderful cruising is and what a great vacation she had. Some people make sort of hobby out of complaining.

I think the worst complaint I heard on a cruise was that there were kids running rampant around the ship....we were on a DISNEY cruise! Of course there are going to be kids! I didn't see any wildly running around though. Most were with parents, there were just tons of them. I didn't mind it at all (there are plenty of adult only areas) and this woman had a kid of her own. So she wanted to bring her kid but didn't want everyone else to? Another good one I heard was that there was too much sea weed in the ocean....

I don't know how many times I've read about the "tight" slot machines in the casinos. Do people really think that the cruise lines will program the slots to pay out bigtime? I think that people making this complaint have lost money on the slots (as 95% of players do) and must now blame it on the casino and its tight machines. I'm surprised that they don't blame the dealers for not giving them winning hands...or maybe they do.

Jack

Yeah, Jack............I blame the dealer every time he deals me a loser. Then when I get a winner it's a good shoe. It's never the bad old dealer's doing when you're winning.

What I really like to see is a full table of blackjack players who've sat there for a couple of hours and then the casino has to deliver more chips to the dealer because he's running out. WOW!!!! Is that cool!!!!

Thomas

I'm kind of fond of the "portions are too small" complaint. And the problem with ordering another entree, salad, dessert, etc. is.....what????

Someone complained that the locals didn't speak English in Brazil.

A woman complained that the ship didn't have her soap opera's on TV. She thought she could get all her channels from home. She was really upset she was going to miss them and complained to the pursers office that if they could get BBC why not her's.

I also like the "my bathroom is so small!" complaint. See, sir or ma'am, we're on a ship, not in a hotel, and we have a limited amount of space because we have to move about on the ocean...

I actually love observing how they manage to fit everything together on a ship in the smallest area possible. Appeals to the gadget lover and space planner in me.

This didnt happen on a cruise but I will never forget the woman at Angor Wat that complained about the steep and rickety stairs and paths. She thought they should be repaired and brought up to safety standards!!!

Was on a cruise over New Years. Was at Chichen Itza. Some American people in our group complained the tour guide's English was hard to understand. So maybe they want to start giving tours of historical landmarks in a foreign language....

This isn't about a complaint but it shows how out of it some people are.
We were at the reception desk (Nor. Sea - Jan. 24-31) on the final night waiting to buy a couple of post cards. A few hours earlier we had been given our customs declaration forms and had it all explained during a passengers' meeting. One of the questions asked if you were bringing food items, etc. into the US and gave shellfish as an example of one of the items. This fellow next to my wife puts his form down on the counter, points to the shellfish question and asks the reception desk staffer if he had to include the escargot he had at dinner earlier in the week.
Cruise ship staffers don't get paid enough.
