Unlike a casino that owns the buidling, the liquor dept is a seperate profit center on a ship...most of the time the casino is a contract or lease operation...a seperate company set up by the cruise line for tax purposes...so one does not "contribute" to the assistance of the profit margin of the other.
Thomas, all cruises give out free drinks and even the ones you go on give out free drinks, however, they have someone watching for YOU at the door to the Casino and quickly start charging, only when you are there. The rest of us always get free drinks.
I guess you are on the secret list of guys that they are afraid of giving free drinks to for fear of cutting into profitability.
It is my understanding that Casino security has pictures of you drinking on your boat while fishing posted next to the security monitors .They have notes attached to them that say "don't give drinks to this man, we do not have enough liquor on board".
Should we meet on a Cruisemates Cruise someday, the first one for you will be free. On me.
I like the free drink for $100 loss idea!
Let's see, I think Cunard, NCL, RCCL, RCI, HAL, Dolphin, etc owe me about 243 martinis....wonder if i wil ever collect....especially from those that have disappeared like Dolphin.
Seriously, it would be a small gesture but sine they are seperate departments...ain't gonna happen any time soon.
On my last cruise in Jan. on the Destiny they gave me a couple of "free" drinks. On the first night I had a nice run at the blackjack table and the pitboss notice I wasn't drinking. So the second night on they gave me a couple of "free" drinks per night. It worked they got thier money back.<G>
