I copied the following excerpt from another message board. The selfish lack of concern for others by this passenger helps explain why stomach illnesses are so difficult to contain. He's blaming the cruise line, of course. I wish I could believe that this poster is an exception, but I think actions like this are far more common than we care to think about.
Anyway, the individual in question explained in detail how he avoided using ship's medical facilities after coming down with a suspected case of the dreaded noro-virus so that he would not be quarantined. He went into public areas, including the show lounge and buffet will still recovering. He of course is blaming the cruise line, yet is part of the problem since he could very likely be recontaminating areas that have been sanitized.
He didn't want to be inconvenienced. I wonder how many others paid the price for his lack of regard for others?
The selfish attitude that this person displayed by not getting treatment for an illness that could potentially affect the whole shipload is no different from the parent who says that their child is wearing "swim" diapers so should be allowed in the pool or hot tub.
I'm really not surprised by these behaviours anymore. I just hope this person isn't going to be on my cruise in April.
In line at Target today the casher was sneezing, blowing her nose, etc. She started telling me how her grandchildren had the flu, were all sick and now SHE was getting it!
I decided to use my card instead of cash because I didn't want to touch anything she had touched! I know she probably needed the money, but boy did I find myself wishing I was in another line.
