Ok - I will rephrase my "opinion" - I, personally, was let down when they stopped "ogling"!!!! I dressed to be ogled, I undressed to be ogled - I enjoyed being ogled!!! That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Be honest ladies - when you get dressed "to the nines" is it for yourself or to attract attention - remember - be honest. If I dress just for "me" it's sweatpants and a ratty old t-shirt!
As for the bare midrifs and mini skirts - no - they are not "asking for it" - but I wouldn't want to be a young man in high school trying to concentrate with all that skin around - puberty is hard enough to go through! Whatever happened to young boys and "National Georgraphic" magazines - old ain't I tee-hee?

Oh,and MORE than 2-10 women up there. The costume show performers hang out up there ALWAYS! I've been on more cruises than I can count, and yes the numbers vary dependant on the cruise type and it's departure location. However, I have never seen more than 8 topless at one time on these decks.
And the ole line about the users of these decks being the performers on the ship is just that... an ole rumor. !

It is interesting that people in the US are modest about nudity compared to our neighbors in Canada and the Europeans.

K, we're not so liberal about nudity here in Canada. It is legal for women to go topless here only because about 10 years ago a university student went topless down the street and got busted. She challenged the law and took it to the supreme court of Canada. They ruled the law banning topless women to be against our cobstitution on grounds of discrimination between the sexes (men can do it).
The fact that it is legal is far from what most mainstream Canadians would consider to be acceptable. We as a country are quite steadfast in the "stuck pickle" department.
The Europeans truly have no "pickle" issues on the subject of toplessness or nudity.
Maybe because I've always been shy (in person ), I've never wanted to be "ogled" .
I try to dress appropriately for the situation. Right now I'm in sweatpants, a ratty old t-shirt, and "sockies"!
I agree with you about the young "ladies" of today. They leave nothing to the imagination! We are old, aren't we

Skin cancer comes from repeated unprotected exposure... areas such as the back of the neck, forearms, ect... I doubt you have to worry about it in the seldom exposed places that you would be tanning.
Isn't it a good thing that ladies boobs are on their chest? can you imagine all the hoopla if they were on , for example their feet? Can you imagine having to decide " well, do I go sockless today or not "?
Sign on the infamous little piece of deck around the funnel area might read----- Attention--- socks optional area--- no cameras or minors allowed." Can you imagine Wilbur saying to Fred " boy--- did you see the feet on that blonde " ?

I think its just the way the United States is & the whole norms of society. Remember back in the Victorian days it was absolute sin-going-to-hell if women even flashed their ankles on those long, outrageous dresses. (Must have been a man who designed them, cuz how did they even breathe?)
I think if the U.S. was connected to Europe (continent wise), things might be different. But because we are wayyyyyyyyyy across the Atlantic & basically connected with Canada & Central America, things are different. There's no influence here unlike Europe.

Hey, the Wiggles children show are singing a song about fruit salad and just mentioned melons. Speaking of melons, I was watching this hilarious commercial on the spanish channel. I just happened to land on it while flipping through. A guy is walking throught the fruit department. First, he picks up two lemons, shakes his head and puts them down. Then he does the same thing with two oranges. He gets to the melons, picks them up with a big smile and walks away. The end of the commercial is a picture of a "big melon" magazine. I never saw that on ABC.

I actually have gone topless not on a ship because this is our first cruise but when we traveled to Aruba on a few eaches there . however when I go topless it is only laying down I just do not feel comfortable walking around with my ..... flopping . But that is just me funny story...in aruba we were on a private beach on the other side of the island my husband was snorkeling with one of his friends and I was sunbathing topless all alone or so I thought. This man came by and I did not see him until he was right there next to me oops never meant for going topless to get me picked up y a stranger..needless to say I sat right up and pulled my knees into my chest to cover them up..after 20 minutes of me trying to e polite this man finally got the idea after me saying husband over and over agina that I was not interested in him and told him my husband is 6'3 and 240 pounds( he really is) and the guy finally left me alone.
My husband was not amused and said some choice words and things he would do to thisguy if he ever saw him again. ( sometimes it is nice to have him get jealous)
Anyway my point was I only go topless laying down. My choice but I respect women who can walk around that way. And I do not remain laying down because I am large I am not I am between a 36a and 36 b oh well !! It is also embarassing when you think you husband and his friend are no where neasr you and you are subathing upright and the friend accidentally sees you ( how embarassing) oh well here are my funny stories enjoy!!

But it's not strictly a guy thing - women tend to make their judgments too - especially wives lol. I was often perceived as a threat but I would always explain to them that I "had a husband I didn't particularly want - so why would I want theirs?"

well just to trump your idea that all americans are crazy over nudity, i am going to tell you about how my girlfriends dad retired cop and nice guy had recently {few years back} told us about a good nude beach to go to...not because he wanted or thought his darling daughter would get ogled but because he hates tan lines as well......we have been going ever since..{not with her dad of course} so it once again is proven that u cant judge all by one........if you do than your as ignorant as the one whom who are condeming.....but as to the topic if you go up there you should be respectful...i only go if i am invited...my girlfriend and her friend ask me to come so sure....but i dont look--- but have seen many guys stare at them....so if you are disrespected and stick around its your fault....just leave and come back ...but fellow guys ....that is lame to go just to see some boobs...dont they get porn movies in the cabin...lol..!!!
Agreed that they "don't have to be perfect" to sun in this fashion, but they should at least be respectively close to their proper weight, and have some resemblance of the female form.
Um...will keep my mouth shut on the nude guys I saw on St. Martin then....at least I THINK some of them were nude. Couldn't see a suit/speedo since their bellies covered that part. It's not just women who show things they "shouldn't."
