Default re:those people

yes I have a problem with the rude ones. The people that bumps u and near knocking u over or cuts in front of u. The ones that stares as if they've never seen black people. I've travelled on the Carib Princess and you would think we were the only black family on the ship. You should have seen the faces of the 50 and up white passengers while riding the tender. Their mannerisms were odvious. They didn't want us sitting near them. Ive never felt that way on Carnival ships. Just thought I'd put that out there.
thanx

We're "50 and up white passengers" and have cruised Princess once and will be on Princess again in November. You could sit next to us any time on any ship! Please don't "lump" everyone into one mold! We don't .

I hope you don't have a bad experience on your next cruise,

Where did you cruise out of San? We get the cold shoulder from some as soon as we open our mouths and they hear the NY accent. Thats why I like the NY cruises for a change.

I Know how u feel. That's the reason we chose to go back on carnival. We figure there were more blacks and just plain friendlier people on Carnival. As a matter of fact, the whites were more friendlier than the blacks. One night I took a midnight stroll on the Lido deck and outof nowhere and calypso music a white man grabbed me and kissed me on the cheek. He said " Come on join us" There were a table filled with white people gestering me to join their table and have some fun. They were some of the nicest and exciting people I've ever met. I will never forget that night. Yes, I've met some fun and friendly people of my own race as well. But to answer your question which port we cruised out of. It was Ft lauderdale, FL.

What a great group of people! I was invited to join several different parties on the Lido deck parties. DH was in the casino and I met so many nice people of all races.

This is SO true! People who have a problem with others who are "different" from them are the ones who HAVE a problem, IMO!

Personally, I love meeting people who are different from me! How boring it would be if we were all alike!

kooky: Paul's post was basically sarcasm at the intolerance of many of the posts that are on the Gripes board. Don't tell anyone but he's one of the most "Live and Let Live" people around.

Take care,
Mike (But I'm not too sure if he'd cruise with bald guys)

I'm a firm believer in the "live and let live" policy. One of the reasons I love cruising is meeting people from all walks of life, nationalities and countries.

I've really enjoyed the cruises I've taken where I've been in the minority, last Fall on my Sea Princess cruises, there were more Canadians, Brits and Europeans than people from the USA. It was great fun!

Working for Manpower this last 2 yrs. has been good for me. I work at a place that is a United Nations! People from 18-almost 80, all sizes, shapes and nationalities. What I really like is the atmosphere and the way people treat each other and bellieve me, there is a major variety.

Funny thing is I have the opposite problem-I am from the south and whenever I go above North Carolina I am treated that way. Even if Virginia.

I know I have a strong southern accent but goodness-that taxi driver from Boston sounded pretty funny to me also!

What was interesting to me was my trip to England several years ago. People would ask us where in the States we were from-we would say "Georgia" and they would say something like "Is that close to connecitut-I have friends there" or "My cousin was in california last year-is that close to you?"

Then we met this older man who asked me where in the American south was I from? It turned out his son lived in Birmingham AL for 3 years so he recognized a southern accent!

Hey I would be glad to meet you and be your tablemate! We could laugh at each other's accents!

Paul, now wouldn't people watching be boring if the above stated individuals did not travel? I think you need to take some yoga classes or something to black out all the stress in your life.

If some of you think that my post was serious, perhaps you have too much stress in your life.

The way that I figure it, until these people start paying ALL of my bills, I will do and wear what I please. I could care less if I don't fit in with the "clique!"

Remember cruise-buddies..."SMELLY" can be defined in multiple ways...

It can be caused by a lack of deodorant, soap, water or all of the afore mentioned - OR EVEN WORSE...

It can be caused by an excess of whatever perfume or cologne is considered truly trendy at the moment. (Nothing worse than getting caught in the elevator before dinner with a group of these 'recently sprayed victims').

as to the smelly people well never experienced that on a cruise but the rude or racist folks well they had a delightful way of dealing with that in the not so distant past on many "cruise" ships.....a long walk on a short plank ,plus the dip in the ocean would be good for the smelly ones ...just not for the fish.

I was with a group and didn't really notice nothing but really nicely well mannered dressed people. The children were seldom seen so not screaming babies or bratty kids.

I guess I was probably the annoying person. Saving seats for a large group that usually wanted to sit in a different area, and not use the seats I saved. Yes, I finally got smart and quit saving seats.

I was the fat person in a bathing suit that I only wear when on vacations. Swim when other people were in the pool. 2 ladies thought I was so rude I got in when they were in there too.

Ages ago I use to breast feed, but no one knew I was breastfeeding, since I just lift my blouse up a little and the baby nurse without anyone knowing. Couldn't afford to cruise then, always wonder how these young families with children can cruise. Guess the good old credit card. Never saw anyone in the dining room nursing. Never seen babies or children in the dining room - maybe once a well dressed and mannered child. Rather the baby be nursed than crying from hunger.

Our last cruise was January 16th, 2005. Wonder if I have select memory, lol. Cigarette smoke was a problem for me. Places I like to go I just avoided because of smoke on the Carnival Valor.

You can wear jeans anytime or anywhere you want...BUT not in the main dining room for dinner.

Jeans are not allowed in alterative dining room either. (Unless it is in casual dining or the buffet.

Actually it depends on the cruise line. I believe you can wear jeans in the dining room on Carnival except for formal nights.
