It is probably just as bad, if not worse than the bedspreads for bodily fluids.

Do you rest your head on the back of the seat in an airplane or in a movie theater? Those are probably two of the most underlooked areas for critters
Now you did it!!!! All the germophobics on this board are now locking themselves in their bedrooms with gallons of lysol and a chemical warfare suit

several years ago I went to the hairdresser for my hair cut and she found head lice.

Now I do all the things I am supposed to do like not sharing hair brushes with other family members etc. so how in the world did I get them? I have no idea-but your point about the back of seats etc. is well taken.

Exactly!
For all the spraying of Lysol, etc. people do -- they forget about these other things!

So why bother at all?

there are people who bring lysol and a black light and completely clean their cabins, not realizing that every time the cabin steward comes in he's also been in several other cabins and touching things so, unless you seal your cabin up like an isolation chamber, it's there. We don't stress about it. We fold back the bedspread before sitting or laying on the bed, we wash our hands frequently and use common sense. We do pack our own (travel sized) pillows (in compression bags so they take up very little space) whenever we travel. I've just never cared for the idea of using a pillow where others have drooled/sneezed/coughed. If that makes me a germ freak, so be it!

I'm so glad I read this post after my cruise and not before. I also fold down the bedspread; something my Mom taught me years ago. For years I've been laughing at her because she lays on a washcloth in hotel bathtubs because they probably aren't cleaned between guests and God only knows whose rear end was parked there last.

After reading these posts...I'm bringing lysol, a blacklight, my own pillows...maybe my own sheets...a cover for the bedspread...

And somehow we'll have to find a way to pack clothes too!
