Default A new gripe here.

The Carnival Cruise Lines need to do away with the hairy chest contest. I have seen so many performed that I now get ill when I see them and leave the area. Also, why did they do away with the private funnel deck? I had never been up there but I still question why?

Michael, I can agree with you in a way. But, there are so many new cruisers to Carnival every year, and this is one of the activities they have heard about, and want to see.

I am with Michael on this; do away with the hairy chest contest; have you ever heard someone say "Hey I would rather go on Carnival vs other cruiseline because of the hairy chest contest... yeah right like anyone is going to say that.... they should have the big splash contest to replace it, (RC already has the belly flop) or something else...

Hate to be a drag,but I dislike both,hairy chest,belly flop contests.
Rather watch ladies walk the deck in sun dresses on a windy day contest!

Ehh, this is nonsense.... Your having a laugh.

NO WAY a cruise line as part of passenger entertainment could have competitions like "Hairy Chest" and "Belly Flop" competitions.

Naw, your taking the whatever.

Yes agreed James, no way that would happen on a ship full of people with social skills and dignity.

Hard to believe I know, I dont buy it either, tooo far removed from todays society to be true.

mmmm

Just had thought, your serious, people do actually act this way??

Naw... no way thats made up, even the lowest in society have pride in what they do.

Appreciate the laugh, but lets not get stupid regarding what some people may or may not do on a ship. No way are people on ships that low to take part in such things even if they did exist 8). Fantsasy

I want to know why they can have a Mr. Sexy Legs Contest, but not a Miss Sexy Legs Contest. I'll tell you why, because if the male judges of a Miss Sexy Legs contest did what the female judges of the Mr. Sexy Legs contest do, they would get slapped first, and then arrested.

That having been said, I do find it amusing. To watch, not to compete in. In any event, if I don't want to see something, these ships are pretty large these days, and I can generally find someplace else to hang out for 20 minutes.

Seriously, though, I do find it a bit odd, and after 4 cruises, a bit repetitious too, but the pool deck sure fills up when one of these events starts. They wouldn't do it if a lot of people didn't like it. I just look forward to them finding something new to do on sea days.

how about a "Catch your own lobster contest" through some lobster's in the pool and see how many the contests can catch
carp - this is a joke - no flaming from PETA please - the lobsters wouldn't have their pincers banded

Or we could have, lets all jump into the pool, and have a laugh about how many of them by doing so can catch crabs 8)

Forget sneezing in the buffet on that one

Brilliant!! Catching crabs for fun and plastic souvenier crap from the cruise line! Maybe they could give a Tshirt to the winner. "I caught crabs on Royal Caribbean!"

Actually, this thread give me an idea. I'm starting a new thread for new ideas for contests, over on the Royal Caribbean board. Maybe we can give the cruise lines some ideas, and we won't have to suffer through exactly the same contests every single time we sail!

I think it would be cool to be able to take my shirt off, dance around like a fool, and get a reward. I just checked..... I don't have hair.... never mind.

Why limit the competition to hairy chests. Let's do the hairy back thing and have coed contests for hairy ears and hairy nostrils. Then, they could have a competition for the biggest bather and weigh them on one of the things deep sea fishermen use to weigh their catch. The winner could then donate his or her bathing suit to be flown as a distress signal in case the ship starts sinking.

I agree on the hairy chest contest, it is silly at best. As for the funnel deck I just returned April 9th on the Carnival Legend and I am happy to report the topless deck is alive and well!

I checked the funnel deck on the Ecstasy in March and it was "barren" .

Michael I think you want the hairy chest contest barred cause you never win it! I agree with a poster who said that this something people who haven't cruised, hear about, and expect. I agree though, it's goofy.
