Default RCCL stole $447 from me- long story

long story but i'll try to be brief. paid off cruise in March of 07, not due until 06/07. I have 2 seperate reservations for family of 5. I booked dolphin swim for my reservation no problem. tried to book wife and third child but could not. two days later it let me book the second reservation. TA paid my money to RCCL late so RCCL dropped my room and booked excursion to swim w/ dolphins in Cozumel. Called TA who called RCCL, RCCL stated they would reinstate my rooms but i would have to re book the excursion. I did so again for all 5 of us 3 days later. when i checked my info online, my kids room moved with out telling us from deck 8 across the hall to deck 10. Called TA who calls RCCl. huge mess but RCCL gives us 2 inside room together near us to make up for lost inside room kids had. RCCL tells me they are paying for the difference in cost. Have to rebook one child's dolphin trip because he is under new reservation # because of room switch so i do.

if your keeping count i have paid for 9 dolphin trips for 5 people. RCCL refunded me one back so far but no my origonal trip that was cancelled. When i call RCCL they said there is no money to refund because they used it to help pay for the 2nd inside room that they said they were giving me for the mix up in the first place. if i wanted 2 seperate rooms for the kids i would have paid for it in the 1st place. RCCL wont give me back the $447 for the 1st excursion i paid for that they cancelled. what do i do now?

ask to speak to a manager. if that doesn't work, write a letter to the CEO, President, Director of Guest Relations and anyone else who name you cand find.

Sounds like a snafu of giant proportions. I believe they will refund the money once their brains catch up with their typing fingers.

I agree with the previous poster, write to the manager of guest relactions ASAP. If that doesn't work, you can file a greivence with your credit card company and not pay for the excursions that are double booked. The entire thing is very confusing, so I would assume its confusing for Royal Caribbean as well.

Best of luck, please keep us posted.

Also - you have a travel agent whom you say made some mistakes. I would look to the travel agency and see of there is someone higher up there who can fix this for you as apparently they made the mistake.

Fixing problems like this is the reason why we recommend people use cruise specialized travel agents. And by the way, when a passenger books with an agency that specializes in cruises, I believe it is much easier to fix these kinds of problems.

There are travel agents, and there are cruise agents. The latter talk to their reps every day and can get things done with a phone call. The former may not even know who to contact at RCCL to fix this problem. I hoped you have a good travel agent.

Best of luck and let us know what happens. Thanks!

Yes, it sounds like you have good travel agent. Would you mind sending me a private message and telling me who it is? (just click on the PM button below).

RCCL knows it would cost you more to get a LAWYER than $447.00 if they cheated you then they cheated others. I'm new to this site and I'm amaze at the problems these cruise line have. Hotels have problem too but they try to work it out their reputations depends on it. My wife and I went to Balboa Bay Club in Newport Beach Calif. our room wasn't ready yet they sent us to the restaurant and the meal was FREE it cost over $60.00 that's CLASS.

Reputation in my opion means two things, what you offer and what the majority of your passengers expect in that experience.

So willy q, lets talk about cruise experience, what worked and what did not for you to date on a ship and when you would jump into getting the lawyers involved.

Based on experience of course.

I know when I nearly did, go down that sorry road with one line

What happens is when things get this complicated it becomes too hard to follow what people are saying.

With deposits paid, and deposits and pre-payments due, a agent may say "I'm going to "give" you a second room for that $447 I owe you" when in fact they mean to say "I'm going to apply that money to a second room."

It is difficult, but everyone has to be on the same page about where they money is going. At least I am glad the agent came though.

Willy, the hotel industry works on a 75% occupancy rate, and most of the food, entertainment and transportation charges are separate. The curise industry works at over 100% occupancy and so many thing are included.

Cruise Lines give less away in freebies, but cruise fares have always been remarkably low. Its a trade-off, raise cruise fares and give away more freebies, or keep them low and run a "tight" ship.

I'm not saying what is right or wrong - just the way it is...
