I'm glad the captain resisted the urge to throw you on board once he saw the tattoos. I sounds like a great trip I loved the pictures. No of thoses day I'm want to cruise on the Liberty of the Seas I love the big boats.

Having read this thread for months, I decided to try it out and get my first tattoo,,yes I did.

I went for it all down my right arm and came up with, "this is just an extra for the deaf, my opinion really comes out my mouth, so either listen, read or lip read,k as I'm talking to YOU" and all done with a Big symbol above and below it to round it all off, so cool.

Wish I had done this years ago, making statements non verbally

At age 54 I know that I am going thru a midlife crisis. I went out and bought a new motorcycle and I am seriously thinking about getting a small tatoo. When I say small I do mean small. I want to get it on my shoulder so that even my tee shirt sleeve would cover it at work. The only problem is I am not into needless pain. So maybe I will stick to the motorcycle.

I have to admit I have never heard the expression "tramp stamp" before, but it perfectly describes my horrowr when my daughter turned 18 and had her lower back tatooed! I got used to the tattoo, and very rarely see it, but I will NEVER get used to her tongue ring!

I have two tattoos myself, and one could be considered a tramp stamp..I guess.... Though most tramp stamps I have seen are decorative.

The tattoo on my lower back is Kanji for "Karate Do", meaning Karate, my way of life.

And I have one on my upper neck (covered by my hair unless I wear an updo), that is kanji for the 5 elements used in martial arts.

Both I had done after I earned my two black belts.

Well shoot if anyone nags you about the tattoo it sounds like you can handle the issue as needed. I worked with a male hairstylist who was a black belt. I used him as a model in a haircutting contest the theme was "the sporting male" he did so great moves on stage.

It is amazing what all has been said in this thread. I was always taught not to judge people for what they looked like. These are adults writing this stuff on here. I am just in awwww! You would really be shocked to see my daughter in a bathing suit!! She is one of the most gorgeous women you would ever want to meet, but she too, has a lot of tattoo's. When she is dressed for work, you don't see them. She has the best personality that you could come across. You see them when she is dressed down for swimming or anything of that nature. If you didn't want anything to do with her on account of her tattoos, then your missing out on a great friendship. Everyone loves her even though she has the tattoos. They don't see the tattoos, they see her for who she is. She is not a low life as some of you (better than thou) might think. She owns her own business, she owns a new home, very nice suv and etc. I don't have any tattoos, but I have each of my ears pierced 4 times and a belly ring. YES, I am 44 with a belly ring! That is what I wanted to do, and it is my body and I have the right to do so. Why can't everyone enjoy life and not judge others? She actually has a tattoo on her that says (what goes around, comes around). Some of you might get a chance to see what that is all about someday. SAD, BUT TRUE !!!!!

I don't recall any posts that judged a person's character because of a tatoo.

Anna Nicely said. Those days of people judging others because of a tattoo are long gone. THere might be a couple of people left in the world that would not talk to somone because of a tattoo. I find people now a days don't judge anyone because of a tattoo or what they look like on the outside. They might not like a tattoo and never get one themselves but don't care if anyone else has them or not. I too own my own business and having tattoos is never an issue.

Rinker yes there was a post about people being judged by a tattoo.

I know alot of people with tattoo. Most regret having them. Think long and hard before going for it. There are alot of very tasteful and artsy tattoos that are appealing and others that reveal character. To each his own...MD

This happens to be one of them. Now tell me some aren't judging!

"This happens to be one of them. Now tell me some aren't judging!"

Not sure what you mean in this post, okay if you are saying you dont have a tat and you dont judge those with them, okay your choice

But me I do, personal choice in opinion, same personal choice that gives someone the right to have one.

To me its still a disfunctional or make a statement personal thing, again in my opinion.

Its the worst "fashion trend" ever invented behind Kaftan Coats, at least they just smelled and did not leave a permanent mark.

To me its now a thing some youngsters are doing just for fashion "because thats what everyone else does". Thats wrong

Hope they still enjoy them in 10, 20 or 30 years time

But to me, they say something about the person that triggers thought or questions, thats it, simple, again my opinion, no right, no wrong

Anna, I'm not trying to get into a urine contest with you.
I just think that almost all of the posts dealt with the subject without character judgement.

This thread is over 9 pages (and even a year or so) long with 10-15 posts per page depending on length.

...and you found one to dispute me. Good pull!

(urine contest)! Nice choice of words. Anyway, to each their own! That is what makes the world go around. We all have to be different or the world would be a boring place.

As I said, the thread itself did not judge the character.

Hey Anna,

Guess it's time for me to chime in and tell the truth. I started this whole thing almost a year ago, tongue in cheek, it was all a joke! I'm very sorry to see all the bantor back and forth some of it bordering on harrassment to others. My opinion, people can have them or not, some I think are downright sexy, in other words it's their choice. Sorry such a tongue in cheek joke turned into such a contoversy! Just goes to show how some folks reading these threads have no life!

nvabill,

I am not usually one to write negative stuff on here, but some of the things said, kinda got my goat. I know everyone has a right to their own opinion. Some shouldn't be so harsh sometimes though. I love this board! It has a lot of great information on here. That post has been around for a long time. You did something right! lol! Keep posting !!

Happy Sailing to you !!!!
