Some of you appear to have been very lucky, and good for you if you enjoyed it then well done.
Personally, I know 15 people who have cruised more than 20 sailings each and "the invitation" has never happened.... and they are also respectable, well educated, nice people.
God knows they pick, but if its your thing, fine and good for you in having done it.
We all have the right to our opinions. no one is wrong on this issue. no one is right. I personally have enjoyed being at the captain's. it's not what everyone likes, but nothing is. So whatever you enjoy go for it and may all your cruises be great ones.

We were invited to the Captains table a couple cruises ago. Later in the cruise, during a conversation with the Asst Hotel Manager, I asked how people were selected. She said that it is a random computerized selection made in Miami. ???
I kinda wish we would obtain the honour for our cruise... it would certainly make our first cruise even more memorable... however, I won't shed tears over it since it is our first cruise and that's memorable enough!! (plus it might spare the Captain from my DH's many questions about how the ship works and whether he can go see the engines!!!)
