Here's the thing; I go on a cruise to relax which is why I usually tend to go to the adults only area. It is usually quieter so you can enjoy a good book, a snooze or people watching. So why is it so hard to follow this rule?
If you bring kids onboard, then they shouldn't be taking up a lounge chair and having lunch with you. They shouldn't be jumping in the pool because it's "not as crowded" as the other one. How about you going to visit them in the noisey area? Too loud? Not as relaxing? Hmmmmmm, what a concept!!!!!
An adult area should only be adults and not your "perfect children".
I have not gone on my first cruise yet, but am going to chime in and say "AMEN". Now please do not get me wrong. I like kids. I got one. But, there are times that I don't want to be around children and having a small place to escape is wonderful. I think people who refuse to follow a basic rule such as this is really inconsiderate.
Kids should be kept out of adult areas for sure.
I personally don't like swimming in pools that kids
have swam ( I had two of my own . Both in their 20's
and married).
I have found that most kids (my own included) couldn't
resist peeing in the pool or hot tub.

If kids are allowed in the adults only, then adults should be allowed
to hang out in the kids only area .

Not to defend the idea of kids in adult places, but ...
1) I have no desire to go any where near the teen disco
2) I'd worry far more about some adult cruising the teen disco that some kid in the adult section.
Neither should be the case. If you want to be with your kids - to the kiddy pool. There is a reason the pool in the adult area is less crowded.

The harsh reality is if you ask security to tell the kids to leave they do a half-hearted job telling the kid, or the kids parents. They know if they "evict" the kid/or kid and parent from the adult only pool area the passenger will raise holy hell with guest services, and if they don't listen then Carnival itself post-cruise.
It almost always seems that they designate these areas adult only but just can't seem to get the nerve to enforce it for fear of backlash from the passenger! It works the same with people saving a lounge chair with a cheese book, a single flip flop (why not both?), or just a towel. The pool attendants know the rules, but know the passenger is going to come to them ranting and raving that they didn't save, and on and on and on.
I have a theory, perhaps it is the fear of losing their job on the ship if they tell kids to leave because it can get blown so out of proportion by the time guest services gets the complaint that the real fact--that the kid was playing in the adults only area because the other pools were crowded--was lost and the kid was not going to admit he or she was wrong cuz the little bastards saw and igored the no kids sign....

I agree with Misguidedangel. It really leaves it to us to tell the kid they are in an adults only area and please leave. We can be nice about it; but if we want the area to stay adult only we need to protect it. If the kid will most likely just leave. Now if the parents are there it's more of an issue. The parent allowed the kid into the area. I would do the same thing if the kid is being a pain in the bass.

I was on the April 5th Splendor cruise to Mexico and they had a security guy (I think he was security - he was in a white uniform) - well whatever he was, he KEPT the kids out of the adults only pool/jacuzzi. They didn't have to leave the area - but they were not allowed in the water and since there was nothing else to do in that area, they generally went back from whence they came! It was VERY refreshing!

Keep in mind, not all children are 4. I have one "child" that is 21. My other is 7 and doesn't 'pee' in the pool. All that aside, the adult areas, pools, lounges, whatever, are adult areas. I do not allow my children (except the 21 year old, as he is an adult) into the adult areas. I have respect for not only the rules on board (and everywhere else for that matter) but respect for the other passengers. If people want or need or desire activity in an adult area, who am I to trespass on that. There are plenty of areas for the kiddies, I let my youngest go there.

let me guess..18-21..Even at that age they still act like "Kids"..Plus Im sure there are adults as well that like to pee in pool expecially after a few drinks and are to lazy to find a restroom.

It's my guess the lazy adults not going to the restroom are male. I'm sorry I can't see an female on purpose using the pool as a restroom. I'm hoping the adults pee in the pool far less the children under 18. That is just to gross for words.

Every Celebrity cruise I have been on, children were not allowed, nor did parents take them into the Aqua Spa area, which houses the large Thallossotherapy pool. It's great having them out of there...
We have a 20 yo and a 19 yo, and kids are kids. That frontal lobe in the brain isn't quite fully mature til 25 or so? lol.
It's the bratty pre and young teens that get me with their attitude.
And, let's be honest, some of their parents could care less if their "perfect and precious" kids break the rules, a little, as long as "they" (the kids) really don't bother "them"(the parents).
Totally agree...and while we're at it, aren't there some adults (not 18, but grown ups) who act adolescent?
As I sit here on my laptop, cocktail hour, making dinner...my neighbor has called me twice now. Her little rug rats have "hit a home run", so two of their boys' whiffle balls came over the fence, lol. That's fine. Love kids and the innocence of children, as we all once were.
It's the whining, ripping around, disrespectful rugrats that grate on the nerves.
Yes, who IS paying for the cruise? We can exercise that right to speak up when anyone is a nuisance on our cruise.
Lets put the blame where the blame should be......The parent who allow these rug rats into the adult only area. These parents want to have their cake and eat it too. They want to relax and enjoy the adult only area but don't trust their kids to be that far away from them. So they allow their kids to stay where they can watch them and try to ruin it for the other adults.

Some great replies. I too have children but I don't want them in the adult areas. There are plenty of children areas on ships for them not to have to invade adult only areas.
Isn't one of the benefits of going on a cruise with an adult area is that it is for adults? The parents attitude will keep me in the casino if that's the case. I teach for a living, the last thing I want to do on a break is deal with other people's children.
I know that not all young adults act their age, but let's not stereo type... I was a very responsible young person (even before 18...) and was married and starting my family at 20. My husband and I always followed the rules, dress code, etc on our cruises and elsewhere!
However, I do agree parents need to keep their kids out of the adults only areas. I think this should include the dining room. If you know your children don't sit nicely for dinner, eat at the buffet or room service. My kids are 3 and 5 and I won't take them cruising until they can behave well enough. I have good kids, but I am not blind to their behavior. A formal dining room meal is too long for them yet.
If only the parents of the well behaved children let their kids in, no one would complain. But then they would attract more, so no kids means no kids. IMHO.
