Default Why can't people pick up thier towels at pool?

Is it really too much for people to pick up their towels and throw them in the bin when they are leaving the pool? That is my biggest gripe.

There are so many towels left behind and people searching for available chairs... Not just on the ships but at hotels too!!

The social problem is

1/ They, the ones that do it see the towel as a "personal reservation" or ownership on said bed or chair and for whatever time it takes them to go away, leave it and go do other things.

2/ It leaves me when looking for said bed wondering if they are in the pool, only left 5 minutes ago to get a drink or a snack and are coming back soon.

SO, what do I do?

Its not my job,,,we have these so called "pool attendants" that wander aimlessly around said areas and appear oblivios to what is happenning in the area they should be supervising. Will they remove said towel after a certain time, NO, will they make a decision NO.

Ships are great at posting all sorts of rules, do they inforce them, NO

But I mean when the person is actually LEAVING the pool area with NO intention of coming back... why can't they take thier towel(s) with them?

Because they have an arrogance that expects others to clean up after them, they as people are another story and its not just towels on beds for them. They will be ignorant in all sorts of ways

But the biggest problem with towels on beds is what I describe above

I know that people you are talking about. These are the people eating in a fast food restuarant and leave their tray and trash all over the table. These are the people that go to grocery shopping and leave their empty Starbucks cup on one of the shelves. These are the people the hold everyone up, because they arrive late to the shore excursion. These are the people who take two parking spaces at the crowded mall during holiday shopping season. These are the people that let the shopping cart roll across the parking lot into someone's car. We all know these people they are b@ssholes. BTW if you don't know these people you could be one of them.

Because they are basically inconsiderate, self centered, louts.

They will also yell at the cabin steward on the lines that charge for replacement towels.

Take care,
Mike

I guess one could always pick up the towels, throw them in the bin and replace it with a little note that says, "I'll return your towel sometime when you least expect it."

It'd be real easy to tell who was engaged in such activity by just looking at those folks who were subsequently walking around with a prominent "deer in the headlights" look.

P.S. Yeah I know, I gotta' sick sense of humor.

Yip, your right and for all my "discussions" with Katlady it pains me to see that she now has to live in what we once called an "Iron Lung"

Kat, how are you dealing with this, hope they can find a cure

The Swine Flu got me it's true. I'm just trying to figure out how to roll that "Iron Lung' onto a tender boat.

I heard the helmet was the lastest in cruise fashion. Just kidding that picture was from a helmet dive in Cabo San Lucas. It was fun walking on the bottom of the ocean. It's the only place in Mexico safe from the swine flu.

What an excellent post. I agree with everything you mentioned.
Which is so unusual for me. Even my partner and I have slight differences !! You are really remarkable person katlady. Well done and well observed. Its peoples upbringing as a child that makes people behave this way.

I an confused as to why you are called Katlady

Katlady, I totally agree. I was thinking of your analagies then read your post. It really is their "sense of entitlement" isn't it? Rude behavior.

I guess some guests feel as though they do not need to be held responsible for very well-known standards of human conduct! I once overheard a guest (on my last Princess cruise) say to her husband (about the towell), "Why should I put it away when they hire staff specifically to do this?"

Wow! Would hate to see their home...Just because someone is charged with a specific job or task doesn't recuse one from being responsible or even polite does it?

Oh well...guss they'll always be there - along with the Chaise hogs, lol.

Why thank you, it's so rare that someone agrees with me. Katlady came from the fact that I'm a cat person (my name is Sherry ssshh don't tell anyone). However, the dogs have wormed their way in to my heart. It's the strangest thing I give a command the dogs do what I say. The cats just look at me like I'm crazy.

Not a problem on NCL since they started a $25 charge if your towel is missing ! Created a new problem "towel rustling" by those that can't keep track of there own towels.

I make the dogs sit and stay before I feed them. I forgot I was dealing with the cat (elwood the gray and white one) I told him to sit and he just gave me a look like the one in the picture. I laughed and put the food down. BTW he doesn't like baths either. Here is a very short video.

I miss my kitties. Had 2, both elderly, 17 and 18 years old. Both died last year. While I love our dog, nothing beats a kitty cuddle. But, our dog has had some major health problems herself this past year and we can only deal with so much at a time.

I alsways take mine..Reason why? you check them out with your room key at the pool..If you loose it or sombody takes it..Your charged for it..I wonder how many people get there towels stolen. Ive always wanted a towel for a souvenier since they cost about 30 dollars to purchase. 99% of the towels Ive seen have the ships name on it. Kinda stupid to leave it laying around knowing you could pay for it if it comes up stolen.

Don't play innocent with me. What does my Avatar picture have to do with any of the gripes on this board. Sometimes we get off track, but we always come back around.

Okay cats and dogs are not allowed on cruise ship's unless the dog is a service animal. Please pick up your dog's towel before leaving the pool area. Okay back on track.
