Ship Names!

I hate cruise line and ship names.

I am tired of them copying each other. How many ships named Dream can you think of?

Norwegian Dream
Carnival Dream
Disney Dream
SeaDream
Dream Princess (is that real? no, might as well be).

I hate typing "of the Seas" all the time. Everything is "of the Seas" for Royal Caribbean, and it sounds like "Chicken of the Sea"

Carnival Dream, Carnival Magic, Disney Dream, Disney Wonder, Disney Magic...

Norwegian Sea, Jorwegian Dawn, Norwegian Pearl,
Diamond Princess, Sea Princess, Dawn Princess.

Radisson Diamond, Radisson Navigator, Navigator of the Seas....

OK - I just invented a new cruise game....

They are all so boring these days. Royal Caribbean is the worst because of those 4 components to the names. Let's look at the initials used for all the RCI ships. Some are repeated. OOTS. FOTS. EOTS. AOTS. IOTS. LOTS. MOTS. BOTS. JOTS. NOTS. VOTS. GOTS. ROTS. SOTS, and VOTS!

Yes, I cruised on the ROTS last week and am going with the SOTS next month.

I miss the days of the Sun Viking. Nordic Empress. Real names for ships.

I have always said, that. if they want to copy a name, go back historically and pick a great one.

I also think it can be confusing for a new cruiser, to end up on the "other" ship of the same name, rather, than the one they wanted. Tricky cruise line

So - no one wants to play my game?

My goal is to make a circular list if ship names that starts and ends with the same ship.

I know we can do it, I am just curious how big it will be.

They are all bad - look at Radisson (now regent) - all their ships were Royal Caibbean names.

The year of Carnival Freedom & Liberty coming out with Liberty & Freedom of the Seas was insane. Why would they do that the same years - was that marketing genious or lunacy?

How many ships have been named "Sun"

I think Celebrity has the worst names: Millennium was the only one that made any topical sense. But "Summit" for a ship is like "Oasis" - doesn't make sense (there are no summits at sea, just as there are no oases).

Equinox and Eclipse - I constantly forget which is which.

I for one am not tired of "Everything of the Seas" Royal Caribbean named their ships and Carnival copied most of them. My first RCI cruise was "Song of America". When they had the naming contest for the Oasis, I suggested as some have, that they go back to a retired historical ship and call it after my favorite "Sovereign of the Seas"

But back to Royal Caribbean's current name game. It is why I named my vessel the.....

"Minnow of the Seas"

In the old days ships were not named in this fashion .There was the Amerikanis ,the Ambassador ,America ,United States ,etc .
